Translation: Let me waist money because I'm too impatient to wait. I will never understand these, "let me buy it now, and sell it in a month" mentalities, or buy now and return for 15% restocking fee.

Some people have too much money to waist...

Not sure how you wouldn't understand, as you already answered your own question.

hey nconnella, you can't 'waist' anything. your waist is that part of your body above your legs and below your stomach. 'waste' is a verb...

Great article! As a new MacBook user (but I recently fried my 4 month old MBP with coffee) waiting for the next best thing, there's no reason that Apple can't lower the prices on existing models, other than arrogance and greed. Now Apple is bitching at Amazon's MP3 deal of the day albums. I never buy iTunes songs. Amazon's are cheaper, double the bitrate, and DRM free. It gets Amazon on my daily web visit list just for the deal of the day album. Apple can shove their 128 bit DRM'd songs up their arses.

Apple is turning in the soft, greedy, lazy slob they love to mock in their ads. Too bad there isn't an super new non-PC upstart to start mocking Apple. They really deserve it.

LOL, this misinformation is gold. Next, tell the story of how Apple let the rabid mongoose loose in your home that nibbled your shins at night. You know that's how Steve Jobs rolls! Didn't he also recently reduce the bitrate to 56kbps and doubled-up the DRM?

I knew it!!;)

Well, I have an idea. Since I'm so hyped on getting an Apple laptop, I think I'll just get the new white unibody Macbook for now for $899. Hey, I may even end up falling in love with it.

Plus, they were just refreshed not too long ago, so it won't lose its value so much when I sell it on Ebay to upgrade to the new Macbook Pro.

Actually, I was just thinking the best value of any Mac notebook has become the boring White MacBook! Seriously, with $100 off on any number of sites plus no tax it's a real deal! If one doesn't need FireWire, it will do everything the 13" MBP will do! If I absolutely had to buy a brand new Mac notebook right now it would be a WhiteBook! If I could buy any current Mac it would be a 27" iMac. If I could buy any refurbished Mac it would be a 1.86 GHz MBA for $1349 including SSD.

Seriously though... you cannot go wrong with a WhiteBook. Now more than ever, the WhiteBook is very relevant and most current Mac notebook for the money/value. It comes down to value and what one can do for the money. It still has 7-hour battery, still has nice C2D CPU, still has Nvidia chipset/GPU, and still can accept 4 GB of RAM for a few years of usability. Oh, and still can drive up to a 30" ACD!

How can we make this happen!! One of those 'Windows Challenge' ads for win7 laying into Apple hardware and prices would put mega pressure on. Now just need the number for the MS marketing execs....

That's why I ordered a MB last Thursday. It will be here tomorrow and I'm pretty excited. It's my first Mac and I intend to use it for at least a couple of years and then upgrade to the Pro. And I'm sure by then I'll be waiting for the next best processor.

I remember when I bought my first iMac. I decided in March 2007 that I wanted to get an iMac, but wanted to wait until the new ones came out. It only took until August.

Apple, please don't wait that long. Though it's not as bad, because at least I get to use a Mac and not an Emachines.
