Did they come back in their original form?

Star Trek came back first as a animation (with original cast), later with different timeframe/cast as TNG, later followed by other Star Trek "versions"; The Odd Couple was cancelled, then following strong ratings during summer reruns was picked back up; Taxi was cancelled, then immediately picked up on another network; and Baywatch was cancelled by NBC then returned in the first-run syndication market.

And then there's The Three Stooges, with their newest film coming out in summer of 2010... ;)

Awesome news, now if only another network would pick up the Terminator series...

And Family Guy sucks, it's blatantly unwatchable and has lifted alot from the Simpsons.

For Star Trek, the original series itself was to be cancelled after two seasons then came back for the third season after a letter writing campaign to DesiLu Studios and NBC. It was then officially cancelled. Then there were the various remakes that you mention.

God this is good news to hear, I did love the films, and they did really nicely tie everything up, but I did still want more :p

I hope there's still plenty of Nixon (& Agnoo (sp??)), he's easily my favorite character, so eccentric :p

Also, can people keep their opinions of other TV shows to another thread, I don't get why one person (with a backing of others) has to try and hijack a thread with their useless musing on something unrelated to the discussion...

You know I completely forgot about the first cancelation. Time for another hit of Ginko...

For the immediate future I think TSCC is dead in the water, but I'm rooting for Firefly. ;)

Alright! This is exciting news!

I'm still waiting for some revival of the best comedy sitcom of our generation *cough*arrested development*cough*

That will NEVER happen. The reason is simple: you cannot enjoy Arrested Development unless you watch it straight through a full season on a DVD box set. The problem with this series is that unless you watch the series straight through, some of the jokes in are difficult to understand.

I've always enjoyed Futurama because at least you can enjoy the show one episode at a time per most comedy sitcoms. Pity that its first run on Fox was ruined by its constant preemption by overruns of the late NFL games on the Fox network.

Bring back Married With Children.

Not without some recasting. David Faustino and Christina Applegate are a bit too old for the roles of Bud and Kelly nowadays. But the role of Al belongs only to Ed O'Neill; I don't think anyone can match his signature delivery of Bundy wisecracks.

I think Fox let MWC have a (hastily arranged) series finale-- it wasn't just cancelled without warning. Besides, the show was getting a bit long in the tooth, what with the overuse of the "NO-MAAM" shtick and "chicken" comments directed toward Marcy.

Besides, my vote for sitcom resurrection goes to "Babes." All we need to do is get a necromancer to revive Wendie Jo Sperber and Susan Peretz, and we're set. :)

sweet! i love Futurama its so funny and has so many smart jokes and ideas that appeal to geeks and intellectuals.

this reminds me i need to get the last to feature length episodes im only up to 'Billion Backs'.

The new episodes will be aired on Comedy Central, but Fox still retained broadcast rights. So they might still appear on Fox.

This is excellent. Bender and the Professor are two of my favorite characters of all time.

"Sure, everyone's always in favor of saving Hitler's brain, but put it in the body of a great white shark... oooooh, suddenly you've gone too far!"

Very good news. I only hope that the new episodes are better than the Futurama DVD movies that were released. I felt they were subpar. But even so-so Futurama is better than so much of the junk that's on TV lately.

What?!?! The films were amazing, I know it's personal opinion but still, the films were easily awesome, admittedly "Benders Game" was a bit WTF, but still, overall, they were a good (at the time) end to the story.

Yeah, there's no point in watching it without the original voice cast, in my opinion. That kinda ruins it.

Exactly, sucks they're being given a slashed budget, but it's a shame the voice actors have these unreasonable demands, surely they can understand the show is not going to be as mainstream as it once was, and that budget cuts are sadly necessary.

Good news, everyone!

Brilliant! :D

Balls :(

$75,000 an episode? Are they freaking serious? No wonder Fox cant pay them that much. It must be a typo. If the actors cared about the show at all they would save up a few more months for their next Aston Martin and just do the show for whatever Fox offered.

That's not really very much, relatively speaking. The Simpsons voice actors get somewhere around $400,000 per episode, last I heard.

Unfortunately the real world doesn't quite work that way. No matter how much they care about the show, if the cave in once, then they will set up a precedent, and that will make it much harder to negotiate in the future.

I agree that this is lame and I doubt I'll bother watching without the original cast, but the blame is on Fox here for being tightwads.

Imo, they just need to man up and do it. They make more money in one afternoon of recording than most people make in a whole year. No wonder tv is full of reality shows, all the actors expect to be paid too freaking much, lol.
I work at a theater, so i know how actors can be, and the network is just going to have to pay them what they want. The problem with modern media is that the paycheck is more important than the end product.
