XXXX: Hey

XXXX: I have a question regarding ordering contract free smartphones.

Pam: Hi XXXX! Sure thing!

XXXX: Is it possible to buy it through online?

XXXX: cause I do not see the option to choose contract free

Pam: Gotcha, when you are ordering a phone there should be an option for month to month instead of 2 year agreement.

XXXX: Oh ok, so that is month to month

Pam: Yep, you got it!

XXXX: Also, since the iphone 5s is going live tonight

XXXX: if I order it tonight, when would it arrive?

Pam: Sure, that's a great question! It'll come with free 2 day business shipping, so if you order the phone tomorrow it'll be delivered Tuesday by 7pm.

XXXX: Ahh that sounds great. Alright

XXXX: Thank you so much!

Maaaaybe. Perhaps. I just live-chatted w/Verizon:

My name is Kim, how may I assist you?

Alex: Hi, I have a question about the iPhone 5s (in gold, 32GB). If I place an order tomorrow morning when the device is available for sale, can it be delivered by Saturday?

Kim: Hi Alex, I'm really excited about the new iPhone 5s too. I can definitely review this info with you

Alex: Thank you.

Kim: Thanks for holding Alex. I did review the shipping schedule for the iPhone 5s.

Alex: Thanks!

Kim: Right now that info is not available

Kim: It really depends on how many phone orders we get on wether or not we will be able to do saturday delivery

Alex: Alright, thanks for checking. So, at this point nobody really knows.

Kim: Correct. Sorry Alex. With the 5s it's kind tough to tell because we did not have a pre order for it

Hmm... Well personally I'm gonna go with it. I don't mind waiting a few days (I'm too busy tomorrow to pick one up in the AM, plus no gold around us.)

So does this mean that if I want to get my iPhone 5s the earliest, I should preorder with Verizon? Or would Apple be better?

I'm not sure what Apple's shipping times are. Verizon is guaranteed for Saturday if you select "overnight Saturday shipping" for $15. :)

They've "guaranteed" shipping in the past for various models. They can't ship something they don't have. If the supplies are in fact constrained, it's first come, first served....

What facts?
These are the facts:
1) Those are international orders not US orders
2) Even if they take 7-10 days to ship, then it won't take 3 weeks to get to you.
3) Yes, no online order will get to a house on saturday UNLESS they use FEDEX saturday service and send it very early morning, so it's a 1% chance at least
4) :p

So UK orders are delivering Oct 10 at earliest. That 3 weeks homey. So much for the "verizon rep" who claimed you can ship overnight. LOL. Bunch of n00bs.

This is BS.
Did you hit your head or are you that dense that you fail on reading comprehension, maybe you are just 10... I never said anything about a 'verizon rep' nor I made anything a '100% fact' like you. Also, some of the international orders are at the 'earliest' delivered in 2 weeks n00b.

Here is one fact: you supported the notion that if you ordered online tomorrow, you would get it on Saturday if you chose saturday delivery. All based on what OP said his "verizon rep" suggested. I refuted this absurdity with on the ground facts and it will be 3 weeks (best case) until you get a phone if you ordered online.

In other words, you were 100% incorrect and yet you refuse to reverse your statement. In any event, having been proved right, I'm now down with this conversation. Best of luck. We both want the phone, I just want to be part of the group that slows the dissemination of misinformation.

Intl orders? As if the phone comes from the US. What makes you think the US is getting special treatment?

According to an Apple rep, they expect the first US orders to have 24 hour lead times on shipping. And plus, Apple already has iPhone 5s units in warehouses in the US as we post. So if you consider that special treatment considering they're an American-based company, I suppose you could put it that way. Also, please stop trolling. It's hard enough to filter out what's probably going to happen and what won't. The world (or at least the forums and Carlanga) could do a lot better without you calling BS on everything we bring up.

Confirmed

I'm Ethan.

Alice: I'd be happy to assist you.
Ethan: Do you have a manager you can verify with me on this one? Just want to really really make sure.
Alice: What would that be ?
Alice: If I am uncertain I will then ask my supervisor.
Ethan: I was planning on ordering from Apple. According to Apple's int'l online stores, supply will be tight for the US per the pattern of "shipping in 7-10 days." my question is: how about Verizon? Will the Verizon website be shipping iPhones quicker?
Alice: 2 business days.
Ethan: from what I understand, this is your *shipping*, correct? the "2-day shipping"? what I mean is how soon will it take Verizon to get it out of the warehouse onto a truck to be delivered (lead times)
Alice: It will leave Tomorrow and arrive Tuesday.
Ethan: it will leave *tomorrow*?!?
Alice: Yes, it will ship out tomorrow and arrive Tuesday.
Ethan: no way. is this guaranteed? how are they managing to do this??
Alice: Once a phone launches on our site, the shipping is 2 days.
Alice: It has always been this way.
Ethan: guaranteed?
Alice: Yes, that is correct. Tomorrow when you order you will see these options on the page.
Ethan: is the 2-day ship free?
Alice: Yes, that is correct .

I'm Ethan.

Really. They could have fooled me that they have always shipped within 2 days of placing order. Last year I preordered the iphone 5 on September 15th the day after preorders started. The phones were officially available on the 21st. I didn't get my iphone 5 from verizon until October 1st. The rep has no clue. Although the rep was vague by saying the shipping is 2 days. Doesn't mean 2 days from when you order. It means 2 days from when they ship it. Now you could get it monday or you could very well get it in 14 days. All it means is that it takes 2 days to ship. Highly unlikely you will get it by monday.

Look, if US orders go live and shipping says 2 days then I will be the first back on this thread admitting I was wrong. Best of luck to us all.

The best is to just show up around 5 am, wait a measly three hours and have your phone way before people ordering online. I got gta 5 on monday night at midnight waited in a 10 minute line and laughed at all the people with their preorder receipts.

My wife and I both have unlimited on her 4S and my 5. I will be giving her my 5. I plan on ordering a 5s from Verizon at full price and then trying our local store also. Not sure if I should order the phone on my line or hers in case I can get one locally. How easy is it to transfer a phone to a line other than the one it was ordered for?

I am using evidence from every country that has opened for sale thus far. Consider when iOS7 GM was available was when it could be flashed onto phones on assembly lines pre-boxing. Those units are en route to stores. Then comes the online orders.

Dont you recall prior releases before Apple did pre-orders? It was always order then a week later it would ship from Shenzen then a few days later you would see it.

Your looking at Apple stores and the Apple online store. We are talking about Verizon who has units already in stock and ready to ship. If you get your order in before they run out of current stock and it's early enough to get on the truck out tomorrow, it could make Saturday (if you pay for that)- Monday would very much possible.

I don't see any options to pay for a unsubsidized phone through the Verizon Store. I used the 5c as a template to see if they'd sell it to me without a contract, but no dice.

I am technically eligible for an upgrade, but I don't want to cancel my unlimited data plan. Is there any way to buy this online at full retail price for a Verizon phone? I don't see any way to get this done like I did for the iPhone 5 last year.

I see that I could buy it "month-to-month" at full retail price, but would this change my current plan?

I am also upgrade eligible on VZW and want to buy out of contract. I was able to select the Month to Month price (full price) when I clicked through the link to the phone detail page (doing a 5c trial). On the main page it just shows the contract price or VZW edge or something. Once you click the link you get the 3rd Month-to-Month option.

When I keep clicking through with the month to month phone in my cart, I get the option to "keep my current plan".

Verizon currently has the phone in their store, however you get a "Please come back at 3:01 to order". It says will ship by 9/24, so there is some truth to this. Assuming they are just giving their selfs some wiggle room. I'm willing to bet there are already 5S's in Apple's distribution centers everywhere which is how Verizon can do 2 day shipping.

Like I said you are 100% wrong; how many days in the US?

Verizon let me in at about 2:57 EDT. My order was complete by 3:00 EDT and I got my e-mail confirmation at 3:02 EDT. This was for the 64GB gold model. It says ship by 9/24. I'd rather wait a few days and get the color I want than fight crowds. My current phone will still work. :)

SHipping times were faster so you were right but since coming from China the whole notion of being able to get it overnight tomorrow was not right.

Glad I'm done and look forward to tracking this Sept 30!
