A few years back I was in the similar process of looking for speakers for my Power Mac. At the time, a local CompUSA had a working display of a bunch of computer speakers where you could toggle the audio source among them to compare their sounds. The Yamaha YST-MS50 blew everything else out of the water. They were easily twice as loud as the competition with a fuller sound, deeper bass, and very smooth overall sound. I bought them, and after hearing them my dad bought a set for his Mac.

I don't know if they still make them (or a successor), or how they compare to today's current crop of PC speakers, but I thought I'd mention it just in case.

many choices for speakers its getting confusing haha

My opinion is there is only one best solution which are the: Audioengine A5's or A2's.
They are just plain awesome and amazing.

haha...not to confuse you any more, but i have a pair of logitech z2400's, and i couldnt be happier. I live in a crowded dorm, with two roommates who use their cell phones constantly, and have various electronics, and have never had cell phone buzz. The only interference i've experienced comes from the aging of the volume knob, which produces a small amount of static noise when i adjust the volume. This is not such an issue, as I generally use the software volume adjustment anyway. The drivers on the 2300's have an aluminum dust cap, and their baffles are designed to give very clear sound (THX certified) and the sub is actually a 10" in a very solid wood housing, with a really nicely placed port, so it gives good, clear bass for any kinds of music.

They're a personal favorite, and i'd recommend them to anyone looking for 2.1 speakers

I've had my Creatures ever since they came out.. Still holding strong and great sound for their size as well as the price. I myself am more into great headphones, as they tend to sound so much better for the price.
