No so, I have 3G EVERYWHERE! GA, TN FL, CA everywhere my 3G has been as had 3G. But back on topic:

3g in TN is in Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis, Nashville, TripCities only

3g in GA is in Athens, Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus, Savannah only

3g in FL less than half the state

3g in CA maybe half the state.

Look at the map.

3G iphone

I think the main reason people still have to buy the 2G is to unlock it. 3G unlock still ain't perfect, unlike the 2G unlock which is really effortless and easy. That's the only reason I would (and did) buy a 2G iPhone.

Actually the 3G unlock is just as easy and as nice as the 2G unlock. They both use the Pwnage tool and it's very simple to use, and everything works perfectly. I've unlocked many myself and have never had any problems, and I own a 16gb myself.

Auction is not going so well. I started it low and with no reserve and now I have 7 watchers and the bid up to $96 by a guy who has 0 feedback. Great...

One day left so we'll see. At least if the winner doesn't pay I get to keep the phone instead of having to give it up at a low price.

I think that I will keep mine.

It is sort of like a collector's item to me. The best phone ever for its time (and still is in my opinion). My sister also waited all day in line for me on iDay (June 29), so keeping it will be in appreciation of her.

I may use it for development (as I don't want to beta test the new iPhone when I get it), and I can also use it as a backup in case I ever lose or break the new iPhone I purchase when it comes out.

Overall, I am still very satisfied with it. Only $20 per month for unlimited data and 200 text messages, versus the $35 per month for the 3G. The software updates have truly extended the life of this phone and the build quality is unmatched compared to the 3G version.

I'm selling mine, it's on eBay now but seeing as I have never sold anything before, people probably won't take chances :D I have 100% feedback but only on items I've purchased!

Finally someone said it!

That is the reason that the original iPhone has kept its value. It only takes about 3 mouse clicks and a manual reset of the iPhone to unlock it. Less than 5 minutes.

My non ATT rate plan gives me 1000 minutes, free nights and weekends, unlimited text, and unlimited data for $54.98 (~$62 with tax) VS 109 pretax for 900 minutes, unlimited data, unlimited text on ATT. This is a $660 savings a year.

I guess I'm missing 3G Internet, but I usually have my laptop with me or I am in a Wi-Fi hotspot.
GPS- never needed it yet- Google maps on EDGE has been fine.
Visual Voicemail - I hate voicemail and I already have a log of missed calls so I can call back the important people to see what they wanted.

These "missing" features are not worth the rate plan difference of $660 a year, over 1320 (not including tax) for 2 years.

It just sold for $230 plus shipping. I'm happy, with that and $60 savings on my next two ATT bills that is more then enough for *hopefully* a 32 GB version.

w00t!

Keeping mine....

I had no intentions of selling mine, but after experiencing a problem with my phone a couple days ago, I realized that I needed another iPhone, not just a crappy Motorola, for backup.

I took my phone in, and the genius replaced it without a hassle. My phone had a couple of light scratches, otherwise in good condition, but the new phone is pristine; I could easily get $300 on CL for it, but I am keeping it.

If I were to get rid of it, however, it would likely go to my sister.
