So you called 12 different times in a week? You were probably being more aggravating than a telemarketer.

Thats why chose to stand in line instead of preordering. Somehow i knew that att was gonna screw up some pre orders.

Of course, Verizon has its own problems. Its union-run, for one thing.
.

With comments and beliefs like that on behalf of hard working americans GOOD RIDDENS  wish you would have just bought a Samsung while you are at it

A co worker wasn't informed when he purchased a device at a VZW store at subsidized pricing and lost his unlimited data.

Then he wasn't paying attention. They need to READ what they are agreeing to on any upgrade. It's also been widely advertized for the last year that any upgrades on a smartphone and you lose your unlimited data.

You were late at 445am-period.I finally got through at 435am and got Oct 5. Immediantely after,I got through on the Apple Store and als got Oct 5.Buck up man.Go to an AT&T or apple store and buy one, plain and simple.I ordered at a Radio Shack on MONDAY morning and cancelled both orders.I got my phone yesterday morning at 902am.Again,go to Apple or AT&T store and quit whining.

AT&T service sucks.

Just because there have been a few isolated incident, doesn't mean AT&T service as a whole sucks. In fact when I upgraded to a smart phone, they were super helpful.

So for me AT&T service rocks :D

Unions . . . lol

Same here. Never had a problem with AT&T's customer service in the few years that I've been with them. They waived my upgrade fee yesterday as well.

It's amazing how inconsistent they can be. I tried to get them to waive my upgrade fee, so I could upgrade 2 phones. One was already eligible.

They wouldn't do that, so I tried to get a $50 credit b/c that was the difference between my termination fee and upgrade fee. Nope.. I'd been there 15 years but will check out Verizon now since that was the less expensive path.

If you switch to Verizon, you'll pay $199 for a Verizon iPhone + $200-something to AT&T (for ETF).

Next year, it will cost you $649+ to upgrade to a new iPhone, because Verizon doesn't do any form of early upgrades.

So what then? Bite another ETF and switch to yet another carrier?

I guess the only influence we have is to 'vote with our feet', but:
1) it makes no difference
2) you have to look objectively at which carrier offers the best phone service for your needs

The vast majority of us call customer service only once or twice during our contract. No point switching carriers just based on that.

It depends. When I contact them to spend money upgrade or ask general questions. They have always been great.

When I actually had a problem based off a mistake they made that's what changed my view of them.

OR he was month to month and had NO ETF!!

AND why would he need the iPhone 5s?

Actually, yes that's probably what I'll do. I already had an iPad on Verizon LTE and will save about $40 per month with the shared plan. So there's $480 saved for the year. I'll bite 1 ETF and go back to what I've been doing with ATT, which was to upgrade 1 phone per year.

Of course that's assuming that the next phone is compelling.

I completed my preorder on Sep14 @ 4:45am EST for a 64gb Black iPhone 5.
Up until this morning, my AT&T is still showing my order at: processing/ pending shipment/ backordered

I just called and cancelled my preorder. I will also be leaving AT&T.
I have had enough.

This past week, AT&T reps/supervisors/managers have all given me different stories.
I have been:

1) told I should receive my phone on time for ordering before the 9am cutoff.
2) told that I missed the cutoff, and AT&T doesn't know when they ship my phone
3) told that i have no idea what my place in the order line is (despite ordering at 4:45am EST), and that I cannot make any claim to AT&T being late with my order.
4) told that Sep21 delivery is only suggested. Apparantly, i didnt read the fine print when ordering.
5) told my phone will ship Sep21
6) told my phone will ship no earlier than Oct4-15
7) told shipping my phone can take 14-21 business days
8) told I dont need to accept terms and conditions
9) told my phone is backordered because I did not accept the terms and conditions
10) told that iPhone5 "phone upgrade"-orders have priority over "new line"-orders
11) told my phone is scheduled to ship "tonight" (on Sep20)
12) was hung up on by a nasty condescending manager

A nice rep did some digging for me and found that because I "added a line", which didn't process till 2pm(!), that I missed the 9am cutoff point.

I honestly still feel cheated only because AT&T won't be straight with us.
I can understand the logistical nightmare, especially for AT&T. But no other serious company today repeatedly lies so badly to its customers all the time, if not downright brush them off.

Oh yeah, I told AT&T that I see many many people even on at&t's own customer forum saying that they received tracking numbers for orders they placed after 9am. 2 mangers and 1 rep all told me flat out that everyone is lying.

Posting this on AT&T forums resulted in several AT&T forum "gurus" (AT&T ******* employees) replying just to compliment AT&T and say that Apple and Verizon are doing no better. LMAO!
See here for lulz:

I finally switched to Verizon from AT&T, and I love it! Best decision I have ever made.

I had a similar situation. End of the day I stayed with AT&T because...

1. If you do the math, it's cheaper than $250 per year. Yes you heard me correctly, you would have to pay that $250 next year for an eary upgrade too.

2. AT&T gave me free text messaging for 6 months. I have a family plan and messaging is $30 per month. Therefore, $180 over all.

3. AT&T gave me $10 per month credit.. For the rest of my life, if I chose to stick with them. Yes. That's right.

4. I rarely make calls anymore due to the fact that I work a lot. The other line on my account rarely does too. Most of my usage is text messages- sometimes 15k a month but lately 1-3k. So I agreed to down my plan to 450 min per month and I still get to keep my rollover minutes of nearly 2500. Saves me another $10 per month.

5. When my phone arrived, the new number I received was already associated to another account, making it difficult to activate my phone at home. For my troubles they credited my account for $35, out of nowhere.

This months bill is $95 for two unlimited lines. Next few months will be $110 or so. After that $120 or $130 for three lines.

The way i see it is everytime you pre order an iphone, no matter what the provider says, it is crap shoot. If you were not lucky enough to be one of the few to get your orders in asap, it was 50/50 that you would get the phone on release day. And i know some ppl got processed out of order etc. And some ppl are still waiting, and wondering what happened to their orders. But it is alot like black friday. You take a chance and hope for the best. As far as AT&T is concerned. Other than spotty coverage at times. I really haven't had any problems with them. They have always been good to me. Been having them for about 4 years now. Not many complaints from them. In the end, i think the OP will regret leaving AT&T once they realize what i say is true. And that Verizon Wireless is not much different than AT&T. You get just as many customers upset with Verizon as you do with AT&T. I dunno, i just think ppl need to be more patient. Ultimately, it is a phone. Nothing more, nothing less.
