All screen protectors do affect the screen. It's simple physics. I used mine for two weeks no scratches on the front or back. My friend even slid it on a table before I stopped him. Nothing.

Screen protectors are not only unnecessary but ruins the beauty of the retina display.

That's entirely false. If you get a high quality, crystal/clear screen protector, the retina display is seen the same. Only the anti-glare screen protectors lessen the quality of the display. And if you're referring to the iPhone's screen being scratch-resistant, that's a load of BS; two small scratches on my screen already.

I still vouch for Wrapsol's skins. I have the Ultra package on my Ip4 and feel it's a good balance between a minimal/naked feel and a decent scratch protector. I can say the same for then BSE on my iPod 5g.

Well I've been debating about taking it off because people said it feels good naked. I didn't really get a feel for it cause two seconds out the store there was a invisible shield stand selling it. So bam.

But today. I decide to do my normal wiping off of the screen and I feel it getting stuck. I look at it and my shield rolled down as I rolled it up.

:(

But the screen naked it actually really nice. Just scared of scratches now. Going to be extra extra careful.

Once you've tried using your iPhone without protection you'll never want to go back, er wait, that's not the iPhone I'm thinking about...

I've had the first gen iphone for 3 years now without a protector, not one scratch on it. Maybe it's just me, but I never have anything other than my phone in the pocket that it's in, keys/change/etc go in the other one.

Is the new glass not as good as previous models? Or are people just over cautious?

My son purchased his iPhone 2 when they first came out and my daughter in law bought one soon after. My son keeps his in the front pocket and my daughter in law in her purse. Not a single scratch on either of them.

They both ordered iPhone 4's this week (about time I know) and don't plan on putting protection on the screens. I do not have screen protection on my iPhone 4 but I do have a ifrogz case cover :).

I bought a screen protector for my iPad and iPhone 3g because the naked screen was terrible when it came to finger prints.

With my iPhone 4, it doesn't seem to have the issue with finger prints, so I have been using it naked and have had no problems with scratches or anything else.

I used my 3G for two years wit nothing on with no problems and plan on doing the same with the new one. The insurance was only $40 so if it breaks I'll get a replacement. I love the way the device feels with nothing on it except maybe my free bumper when it comes.

Here's my secret weapon for keeping my iPhone(s) clean and somewhat protected. I've been using a Moshi ipouch for about 6-7 months now. It is made with microfiber lining, so when u place it back in the pouch and give it a good rub it'll clean off all the oil, dirt, and fingerprints on your iPhone. The outside is made of a soft cloth similar to fleece almost, or like the soft cloth's that u get in a package of iKlear. As long as u don't mind placing it back in a pouch of sorts, then I definitely recommend it it! Here's the website:

Screen protectors ARE unnecessary if you simply always place the phone down with the back and don't keep any sharp objects in your pocket.
In observing these rules I never had the slightest nick on my screen in nearly 3 years of iPhone.

My phones are also in good shape and even the wifey's whose phones rattle around in her purse. With that said, this is the first phone with a flat glass back. Time will tell.
