Yes, by default, these files need to be moved. This is because of the Apple official storage policy. It is a must.
If they are not moved, they will be synced to iTunes and iCloud even you do not want it so.

I see that if you turn on iTunes sync, they are moved back to the Documents folder and if you turn it off, they are moved back to the private folder. The app even informs you of that.

Please tell us the other app's name.We will check it. Please note the policy is for iOS 5+.
And yes, the app will inform users the files are been moved.

I also use another media player (Buzz Player) and when i put my files in folders using DiskAid, all remains as it is and it doesnt need me to sync.

Thanks.
However we got direct order to change the storage folder from that company, or else the app could not pass the review. So we could not change the default folder easily now.

We will check other app's storage folder, and check if the policy now changes again.

GoodPlayer FTP problems

Hi. I got some problems i hoped someone could help me with, im sure its just me being a complete n00b, but still :)

I just downloaded GoodPlayer, and i try to connect to the FTP (connect to the iPad from my MacBook to transfer movies too my ipad). I do manage to connect, however i get read only access.... which makes it hard to transfer movies to the iPad.

What am i doing wrong?

Please use some FTP clients (we use FileZilla in testing, it is free, http://filezilla-project.org/download.php ) for FTP file uploading.

2. "Audio Delay" can be set manually now. During the playback, in the bottom right of playback control, click Info button. Then select "Audio Delay" to set a audio delay. hustmobile, I purchased Goodplayer today for the sole purpose of playing WMV files. When I played one today, however, only the audio played and not the video. Per the instructions on your site, I downloaded the mediainfo program and found all of the WMV files I need to play have an MSS2 codec ID. Questions:

1) Can I do anything to play the videos on these WMV MSS2 files with Goodplayer?

2) Do you have any plans in the future to support the MSS2 codec? IF so, do you have any idea when you might implement that?

This is quite frustrating, as I've also had tremendous trouble converting these wmv files to mp4 files. So far it seems no iPad App that advertises that it can play WMV files actually plays my WMV files. Anyway, thank you for your time.

This link to another forum covers the issue of converting MSS2 files to other formats. It is way too techy for me :D but maybe not for you.

To moderators: If I have broken rules with the link I am sorry but just trying to help.

MSS2 is a Microsoft proprietary codec. AFAIK, there is no other 3rd part codec for it so far, that is why there is no iOS app support for MSS2 codec.

There are people still trying to reverse-engineer MSS2 codec, however there is no progress on it.

So if there is no 3rd party MSS2 decoder come out, GoodPlayer could not support MSS2.

Converting MSS2 to MP4 looks the only way for iOS now.

Thanks.
However, GoodPlayer is a player, not a converter. So this information is useful to user want to convert, but not useful to our development.

For average users want to convert MMS2 WMV files, please try HandBrake or MediaCoder.

Please note: you'd better convert MSS2 WMV file on Windows, so these applications can use Microsoft MSS2 decoder

For HTTP/FTP Wi-Fi uploading, your desktop PC/Mac needs to be in the same
LAN with iPhone/iPad. Some router setting will break the network to
multiple LANs, please check if they are in the same LAN.

Anyone having trouble connecting via wifi http/ftp to upload videos? I can't get mine to work.

Retina Update for iPad 3rd Gen

hustmobile, just bought your fantastic app. I have the new iPad. I want to know if you are working on retina update for the new iPad? And is it possible to make use of the new Quad Core GPU ?

thx, in the next 4.8 version, some graphics will be updated for retina display.

For performance, Quad Core GPU is already used. The bottleneck is on 2-core CPU for software decoding. So the performance of iPad 3 is nearly same with iPad 2.

I couldn't figure out why my LAN wasn't working, but I tried it on a different network and it does work. Something's up with my Cisco router...

Maybe there is NAT setting in your Cisco router, bridged LANs is needed. NAT will divide the LAN.

hustmobile, thanks for the update. I'd like to suggest few vital features for the player.

1, The number is that there should be an option of zoom in and zoom out for the videos. Pinch to zoom in and zoom out feature would work just great. Or if it's restricted, there should be a zoom + - button

2, There should be an option to play videos in their original resolution. For example, lower resolution videos and clips i.e. resolutions e.g. 300x200, 350x250 etc. look so horrible when stretched by good player to fill the screen. There seems to be no option to play the lower resolution clips at their original resolution.

Thanks for the suggestions, we will consider them.

Will Goodplayer use hardware acceleration if the files are in iTunes required format/encoding?

Thanks

Yes, here it is.

For limited file formats such as MP4,M4V and MOV, by iPod plugin(GoodPlayer-->Settings-->Plugin Setting-->iPod, Turn on "iPod"), the 1080P (1920x1080) MP4,M4V and MOV playback supported via iOS devices system hardware acceleration

If I understand your question correctly, there's an option to turn that on in the options.

Hey,

just tested your app on an ipad3. Avis work just fine but mkv basically do not work "at all".
480p works but audio is not in sync, tried with various files, 720p does not work due to lag (that I was expecting..)
I turned dualcore support on, high quality off, tried the audio delay options. But full sync off audio / video doesnt seem to work :(
Am I doing something wrong here?

For iPad 3, normally 480P mkv smooth playback is not a problem at all.
Please check the following help. If it still does not work, please share the issued file to us. You can upload it to Dropbox or other file sharing site. Our Email: service@hustmobile.com

Important note: rebooting sometimes helps

For best GoodPlayer performance, please check these settings
(sometimes, a reboot of iDevice will help):
1 Multi Core Decoding to "On"
2 High Quality Mode to "Off"
3 Deinterlacing to "Off"
