For the WebDAV space character support, please wait for the next 5.0 version.

I checked on another iPad and on another network. I can definitely reproduce the bug.

If there is a space in the address of a WebDAV share, GoodPlayer crashes, when trying to connect.
Strangely it works fine with CIFS/SMB.

v4.9

----------

From the description Seagate Goflex Home looks only supporting DLNA here. The DLNA server will filter the file formats, and only shows the supported file formats.
Please set up a SMB share to Seagate Goflex Home. The following FAQ#38 wil help.

#38 How can I play files that are located on a PC Windows XP/Windows 7on my local network, without running a steaming server, and without having to copy the file locally first in GoodPlayer?

1. Share the Windows XP/Windows 7 files by SMB

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-7/share-files-and-printers-between-windows-7-and-xp/

2. Access the SMB sharing in GoodPlayer
Here are the steps for SMB access
1. find the IP address of your SMB server first
2. GoodPlayer-->bottom right corner icon-->SMB/CIFS Client
3. Click the plus icon of the upper right corner
4. Input the 3 parameters here, make sure the User name is without space in it
5. Save
6. access the smb server and download/streaming from it

Hi I am new to this forum. I have a problem with playing the Gooplayer through the home network.
I set up the home network with windows 7. I have the Seagate Goflex home (2TB) attached to the home network. In the iPad 2 I install the Seagate Goflex Home app from seagate, I can see the Seagate drive and play the video (MP4 only) and the Audio (MP3). When I install and run the GooPlayer App I can not see the Seagate Goflex Home drive.
I can see and play (streaming) the Video (all format MP4, MKV..) of the lap top. Also I have the WDTV LivePlus attache to the network with the usb drive, I can play the video through the SMB of the WDTV Liveplus.
Could you tell me what I am doing wrong or the Seagate Goflex home is not compatible in this aplication.
Thanks,

thank a lot for your instruction
now i can access to the Goflex home drive and stream/download from there. and play the Goodplyaer
your the best

Using a time machine is it possible I could have goodplayer access it over 4g on my IPad 4g? I found you could use afp but tried the same with WebDAV and samba and nothing showed. Was hoping you would help.

Thanks

For "time machine", do you mean "Time Capsule"?

There is not AFP support in GoodPlayer, we are still working on it.
However, you should can access Time Capsule via SMB protocol in LAN.
If there is WebDAV, it should work too.
Please note if it is internet access, you need port-forwarding in your router. SMB is not suitable for internet access.

Err, yes Time Capsule (typo)

The idea is access my Time Capsule while out and about over my iPads 4g internet and download videos. Using another program I verified I can access it over my iPads 4g by enabling sharing disk over WAN and port forwarding 548. So configuration is good on my end. (wasn't sure at first)

Good to hear that your working on afp support :-D can't wait for it's release with this great program!

Thanks for getting back with me,

port forwarding 548 is for SMB or AFP?

port forwarding 548 is for SMB or AFP?

The port forward worked for me using AFP but didn't work with SMB over 4g.

http://gigaom.com/apple/access-your-time-capsule-over-the-internet/

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIQ7SzA1cK4

But honestly when I was messing with it and had got it working I noticed on my settings that my port forward wasn't enabled at the time I had it working. So just out of curiosity I enabled it (changing the port number to a different number) and it worked with a different port number as well as 548.

SO if the Time Capsule is your primary router I don't think you need to port forward 548 unless you want to use another port number but even then 548 was still working even after forwarding it. (using the AFP)

When I port forward my time capsule I just tell it my private port and the public port(both UDP/TCP) and state the IP for my time capsule (192.168.1.1). Nothing else.

Thanks a lot.
We checked the 2 sites. The 548 port should be for AFP. So please wait for it.
SMB should use 139 and 445 port instead. However, SMB is not so great for internet access.

Since today's 5.0 update, files transferred via SMB no longer keep original file name including spaces. Spaces are now replaced with '%'.

Is this a bug or is there an option to preserve original file name?

Also, after the update SMB would crash the app. Deleting/reinstalling fixed the problem, but I had to re-download all my files again.

Thanks

Thanks.
For '%' issue, it is a SMB bug. We are working to fix it.

Please note the 5.0 version comes with a SMB issue:
For the 5.0 version SMB server connection issue, if you have older
manually added SMB servers upgraded from older GoodPlayer, in 5.0
version, please go to GoodPlayer-->Main Windows bottom right
icon-->SMB/CIFS Client-->for the issues SMB sever, click the right
blue arrow, and edit the "Workgroup" input field, please input
"WORKGROUP" or the suitable workgroup information here, and save. If
you do not know exactly what the workgroup is, please just input
"WORKGROUP" and save, later if the workgroup information introduces
issue to SMB access, you can delete the inputted workgroup information
and save. There is no need to uninstall/reinstall GoodPlayer app for
this issue.

GoodPlayer 5.0 released

What's New in Version 5.0
1. DVD .iso support improved.
DVD title supported, now by default GoodPlayer will only play the "Title 1" of a DVD .iso. For other titles playback, during the DVD .iso playback, in the bottom right of playback control, click Info button, click "Title".
DVD chapter supported, during the DVD .iso playback, in the bottom right of playback control, click Info button, click "Chapter".
DVD .iso audio tracks selection improved
2. "Hardware Decoding" playback mode added. GoodPlayer-->Settings-->Audio/Video Setting-->Hardware Decoding. This "Hardware Decoding" playback mode will replace most of function of older iPod plugin playback. However, since the iOS 4.x AirPlay is only supported by iPod plugin playback. So the older iPod plugin playback setting is still kept. "Hardware Decoding" playback mode is for limited file formats such as MP4,M4V and MOV only.
For mp4/mov/m4v file playback issue, turn off both the following settings will make GoodPlayer use software decoding.
GoodPlayer -->Settings --> Audio/Video Setting -->Hardware Decoding
GoodPlayer -->Settings --> Plugin Setting -->iPod
3. FTP client supports encoding setting
4. WebDAV client improved
5. SMB client supports Workgroup setting. For some SMB servers, please add this Workgroup information for the SMB streaming.
Please note the 5.0 version comes with a SMB issue:

6. Main window SMB servers list issue fixed
7. Do not support iOS 3.2 now. Requires iOS 4.0 or later

Hustmobile:

Now I am sorry I mentioned shared folders with spaces in the name. You guys have managed to break what wasn't broken. ;-) Before SMB worked normally with those, while WebDAV crashed the app. Now it is possible to actually type in the correct share name (with spaces), but the GoodPlayer crashes when I try to play a movie.

For instance:

Share name:

10.0.1.1/Synology Media/

It crashes as I try to play a file.

On another topic - I have a movie collection sorted like this:

/movie folder/movie name.avi
/movie folder/movie name.srt

It would be a great feature, if GoodPlayer could check the shared folder on network for a subtitle file.

For the WebDAV issue, thanks for the feedback. And sorry for the issue.
We will check it.

For the streaming playback srt support, it is only possible now by downloading it to local first.

I keep my fingers crossed for v5.1.

For now I just do a copy *.srt from my movie database to a local folder in Goodplayer via WiFI FTP connection. Crude, but it works.

Hi I've had a good experience with good reader for the past few weeks. But there is something that has been bothering me.

Using ipad 3 built in plugin, whenever i play any video file the audio and video is always out of sync. I've been trying to find out why this happens, thus it lead me to find good player.

The new 5.0 release added hardware playback into it. I've just updated but i've also noticed that the out of sync problem still occurs. Does this mean that ios 5.1 has a problem with video playback ?

Also audio delay function is not available when using hardware playback. Did i turn something off or is it unsupported for hardware playback

Thanks for answering

Thanks.
1 by guessing, goodreader uses something like goodplayer's hardware decoding to play the mp4 files, so the test result for mp4 should be similar
2 it is strange there is delay for hardware decoding. Please share the issued files to us if possible. Our email service@hustmobile.com, send the file over Dropbox or other file sharing site is okay
3 you can try goodplayer iPod plugin
4 the audio delay in the future will support hardware playback mode.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have done some testing on my own. Is it possible that a problem in the video encoding might cause this delay ?

I've tried other videos and apparently some of them run just fine with the built in encoder. But some of the files would require either i use the built in plug-in, hardware playback, or software playback before it would run in sync

I think as long as audio delay feature is included in hardware playback then there shouldn't be that much of a problem with audio delay in the future

I guess there is issue in video encoding. The hardware decoding playback is very powerful.

Sorry, there is WebDAV bug introduced in 5.0 version. We are working on it.

Since last update I have a problem with Webdav, the browser file is empty.

Thanks

3 you can try goodplayer iPod plugin

I have the same problem. I remuxed an mkv file that Goodplayer would not play at all to an mp4 container with AAC encoding. I switched on the iPod setting and it plays well except for an audio delay. When will you release the version that supports audio delay for native hardware player? BTW a 400ms delay works for all mkv files that play.

I notice that when I turn on the iPod setting, an mp4 file starts from the beginning when I return to it. Is this normal?

Nope. Are you sure you have "Start Playing" (in the Playback group) in its def value ("Where left off")?

Please, if you do this, also allow for volume boosting (now, it only works with SW decoding).

Thanks, we will consider this feature in the future.

Yes, this is normal. "iPod plugin" cannot remember position.
We will remove the "iPod plugin" feature soon, since the new "Hardware Decoding" feature can nearly replace it.

Of course. Notice I said

It's of no use if it only works when it is off since mp4s play poorly without hardware acceleration.

Another annoying thing is the player loses the "jump" ahead/back double arrows in iPod mode.
