I have to use pushmail for my 6 other email accounts...pointless for someone like me, or who uses more then gmail.
Did you get the "Cannot Get Mail The Connection to the server failed message'? Before it started working?
PushGmailIs there a way to have it generate a pop-up (sms like) alert with the basic information like GPush does?
I get the 'new mail' tone within a few seconds of sending a test but no pop-up- which I really like.
Maybe I'm missing something (more than likely I am).
I haven't set the exchange push to my iphone yet, but can anyone tell me this:
Will I be notified if I get any e-mails that arrive to my labels? I have several filters that move new messages to different labels. Or does the push notifiy you of new messages only in the inbox?
Thanks.
Because the Gmail servers are getting slammed right now. After 3 hours of this being set up on my iPhone, I just got my mail pushed to my iPhone. But give this a few days and it will change for the better. If it a big issue go back to the imap google option.I haven't set the exchange push to my iphone yet, but can anyone tell me this:

MobileMe uses MS Exchange technology to do its magic.
I am not an expert so forgive my ignorance, but why do we have to go through MS exchange account to set up gmail push notification??? If gmail enabled push why can't we just enable the push option on the iphone preferences and voila that's it...
All this is confusing and does not make a lot of sense to me.

Apple hasn't added push for Gmail to its Mail app on the iPhone, but Google has worked around that via Google Sync. All you have to do is set it up as a Microsoft Exchange account. At last!
You can set it to notify you on inbox only or certain one or all of your labels.
How do you enable that? I don't see the option in mail or notification settings.
I have had a lot of issues as well. Received the account authorization failure notice several times. Once I did get it set up, I received messages that it cannot send mail or that it can't connect to the server. There are messages that I have sent that haven't disappeared from my outbox. I deleted those emails, turned off the iPhone, turned it back on and the emails were back on the outbox....
Something's broke - either me, the service, or the iPhone.![]()

What would be the benefit for me to enable on the MSE acct the calendar and contact sync?
The Pre allows multiple Exchange accounts.
it's a personal's choice, for me i like it because i don't have to sync it. as i make a change to my calendar on my iphone it'll show up on my google cal or the other way around![]()
