So who voted negative, and why?

I can maybe see some "on-the-fence"-ers, but Google has definitely done more good than anything in the last decade. They're not perfect, and they can certainly do more, but they provide great and highly useful free services. What's to hate about them? I'm curious...

I was reading that article online at the city library during lunch. Some staff member saw me, then I was kicked out for "visiting inappropriate websites on public computers"... I guess that the BBC is just out to get America...

Anyhoo, I voted on the fence. I use their services widely, but their future might easily change my thoughts on Google.

I can't say I've used Google for their entire existence--but I do remember first using them in early 1999--and they quickly won me over and I rarely use any other search engine. They've come a long way and I'm sure it is just the beginning.

Use google daily... Voted positive, but... in the next ten years, I'd like to see them focus on some core aspects of their company. The folks at google are dong great work, please don't get me wrong, I just think that with all that money and power, they'd take some bigger strides in a direction and stay on that path. The android platform could be big, their new web application browser could be big, their net neutrality stances... They've done a ton in the past ten years.

So in the next ten, I'd like to see them strengthen their success by following up on what they've already created. Improving search and expanding gmail would be the two things at the top of my list.

I use Google search and Gmail, they're both great.
I don't think google search should ever be changed!

So who voted negative, and why?

Probably because they had a reason not to like Google...

I'm mad: They should have released Chrome on the Mac first. Dang it. Oh well. Like I'll ever use it when they finally do anyway

positive - i mean there company name is can now be used as a verb. How many companies can say that :)

I love gmail - its free, its pushed directly to my blackberry even before the notifier thing in the menu bar

I voted negative and heres why. They are getting to big and have information on just about everyone.

its hard to believe that google has been around for a decade.

i have an open mind towards them, i use their search a lot. i use their chat and email a lot too.

but it is worrisome to see one company get as large as they have. i suppose the current leaders of the company have good intentions at least...or appear to, but that doesn't mean they will for ever.

I can't really choose any one of the three options, but if I had to, I'd probably choose negative. Google has obviously managed to do one thing very well, but I don't believe they've moved beyond that one thing with any conviction and certainly very little excellence. In fact, mediocrity seems to rule at Google, which is a real shame since this reminds me very painfully of Microsoft. To me they are looking more and more like a one-trick pony, and too big for their own good, and probably for ours too.

That's my big beef with them also. I'd vote "no" but then I'd be a hypocrite since Google search is what I use...
