Dang. Whatever happened to everyone getting pissed off at government buying records from these companies to spy on us with and none of them minded at the time despite the amount of corporate welfare they get on a regular basis?!
This latest dog and pony show on their part is quite funny.

Cook's unbendable stance is commendable.
If only the iPhone were as unbendable.
He supports terrorists and only not too long ago people were pissed off at Apple (and others) quietly collecting user data to give or sell or whatever.

For this "immense risk" to happen, the following has to happen:
1. FBI gets access to iOS source code (court order does not say FBI gets this).
2. FBI gets the signing keys for iOS (court order does not say FBI gets this).
3. FBI gets physical access to your iPhone.
Let me know when 1. and 2. happen.
1. iOS is an augmented form of FreeBSD with NeXT thrown in. Big woop, anyone can guess a portion of it already.
2. As people have said, Apple just needs to unlock the one phone that the one terrorist had with the FBI dude watching. Simple.
3. Yet nobody cares about all the privacy stuff Apple already collects, some or at least at one point in plain text, apart from the news articles where people were whining about privacy too. The word "crock" comes to mind, and words surrounding it like "of", "big", and "cack" too.

Apple should do what Edward Snowden did...
Give it all in 4-point text.
We can hear the song now: "Cook and Snowden, sitting in a tree"... two birds of a feather is what made me think of that, oddly.
Snowden, for whatever claims he made, were quickly debunked by opening up all sorts of stuff to known enemies (or at least not BFFs) long before telling US citizens of squat.
Can you or anyone really try to prove to anyone that Cook is doing this song and dance out of the goodness of his heart and for the benefit of Americans? Maybe so. A lot remains to be seen, though.
