If my wrist was that size I'd say no thanks to that watch too but there is a smaller one and if LG doesn't suit there are a plethora of others. If you own a current gen Android wear you're going to get wear 2.0 anyway so there's no need to change.
I'll stick with my 38mm Watch. The smallest Android Wear Watch would look ridiculous on my tiny wrist.

I like the competition but these are a hard sell. Google doesn't have a great track record when it comes to software updates and the hardware doesn't have the easy band switching that Apple Watch has.

I see googl's xerox machienes are all fired up and working well. complications, activity rings, digital crown...
Did you really say complications? Oh dear, what next, they have put hands on the watch face.. the bast Ards!!!! Correct me.if I'm wrong.but the Apple Watch copied real life watches that have complications already on.. is that fair to say?

WOW.

That's a real '90s sci-fi turbo nerd look right there.

Not if you want onboard GPS, or LTE, or NFC payments...right now there's one choice and it's that monstrosity.

No thanks.

Oh my goodness!

How on earth can they launch these two and seriously think they will be the products that make the android wear segment take off for real? They look cheap, nerdy (circular face alone doesn't make it stylish) and the materials lack so much it's almost a joke - the "Style" lacks GPS and other features and doesn't even try to beat the Apple Watch in materials with steel and sapphire - quite bad actually - hoped for it to be better to force Apple to up its game

My statement has nothing to do with what non smart watches had before Apple's, nor, where Apple got their ideas from (research on the historical eveloution of watches). My point is that Apple had to show google what to do with their watch. Every smart watch before apple's was a failure. None of them had the elements I listed. Google designs their interface, it doesn't sell very well, then Apple introduces their watch, sells millions and every other manufacturer copies. Same with tablets, smart phones, user interfaces (the list goes on) ...

I tried out a Moto 360 2 with my Nexus 6 last year, and it sucked. Android Wear is just a second or third rate platform (My Pebble was/is wayyy better than the 360) and it lacks so much when compared to watchOS or PebbleOS (RIP). I had constant BT disconnects, and no matter how many of the troubleshooting steps I did, still had problems. I had random rebooting, lagging, and frame drops when doing the simplest of tasks like checking the time. The App selection on Wear is complete garbage. All it has is a bunch of fitness trackers, water intake monitors, and watch faces. That's it. Wanna check sports scores on the ESPN app? Oh wait, it doesn't have one. How about control your GoPro from your watch? Can't do that either. Delete emails? Can't do that, there's no native client, and the alternatives are shoddy at best. And the list goes on.

The Apple Watch is the king of the smartwatch market, hands down. It has the best build, the best software, the best app selection, the best ecosystem, the best integration with my other devices/Apple services, is extremely reliable, very consistent, and hasn't let me down once since I got it on launch day.

TBH, before the Apple Watch, I never saw any watch with a complication that would give information about the weather, heart rate, stock market, news or whatever other thing you may possibly think about.

So, in my humble opinion, it is fair to say that Apple "reinvented" the watch complication and in this case, Google copied this reinvention.

This. Excellent points. Google has never excelled in the smart Watch catergory. Apple's band switching is extremely versatile and convenient. And Apple is consistently updating their OS and refreshing it. Watch OS 3 for example, really boosted the first Generation Apple Watch. Apple has the advantage with the hardware and software.

So far Android wear has not taken off. They've not really found the user experience/design that has struck a chord with the consumers

I agree. I gave up on trying new Android Wear watches. I'm sticking with Samsung Gear and Apple Watches.

I caught Rich DeMuro "#RichOnTech" on KTLA this morning (his segment airs on other Tribune stations) of the brand new Samsung & he gave it glowing reviews.

* Actually being able to use it as a phone (!!!!).
* Rotating bezel for easy features options.
* Actually giving you the time when used as... you know, a watch!

lol To throw you fanboys some duck breadcrumbs:

Some of his criticisms:
* Water resistant, not water-proof.
* Few Android app options; not fleshed-out.
* Rubber sports band was to "grippy" for his tastes; harder to put on.

They all look kind of cheap, and that one poking through the sweater is huge. Not in the least bit interested.

I think you are trying a little too hard to make sense. As the orange face says, it's sad!

Do all these features work on an iPhone? Else, we are just looking at a pebble watch with a colour display and shorter battery life.

I really want to see an Android Wear watch that can effectively compete with the Apple Watch--neither of these fit the bill. The Apple Watch doesn't have LTE but it has everything else and is fully water resistent, all while getting far better battery life (the Verge review stated the Sport makes it about 12 hours in mixed use), significantly smaller form factor and with the ability to change straps.

Android Wear OEMs need to just forget about offering LTE until they have better power management and battery capabilities so that these watches are such monstrosities.

This ad is really... weird. I wonder what it is supposed to tell me. These watches only work in... strange fake worlds?

I'm going to stick with my Samsung Gear S3 Frontier. At least the band can be swapped for any commonly available 22mm watch strap and has all the features of the LG Sport + 4 days of battery. This is a poor effort from LG when compared to a smartwatch that has been out for several months already.

Maybe that's the whole point. They know that they can never get power management and battery capacity right, so they can only hope to compete by offering additional features such as LTE, even if those are half-baked and may actually harm the end user experience overall.

That said, I am not sure how they even compete. The Apple Watch doesn't work with Android phones, while Android Wear is never going to offer as much functionality as the Apple Watch. Each has a venn diagram of potential customers, and they simply won't intersect ever.

Man I wish the Apple Watch had a round face.

The square might be better for computer information, but it looks so uninspired and dorky.

Totally agree. I have an Apple Watch Series 2 but really wish it had a round face. Perhaps this is on purpose.... Perfect the hardware and software in the real world with early adopters and then introduce a round face to get all current owners to upgrade.
