Not sure if you looked, but if you are upgrading from last years Pixel models, the Google trade in values are garbage. I was on the fence about upgrading my 7 Pro to the 8 Pro, but for $425 in trade in, it is completely not worth it.

I guess I'll be waiting to see what Samsung comes up with in January, then choose between their Ultra and the 15 Pro Max.
In the UK the Google trade in values are really good. My iPhone 13 mini can be traded in for £480 towards a new Pixel phone. Plus they're throwing in free pair of Pixel buds pro, or the Pixel watch 2 depending on phone model.

It's very tempting to switch over.

Pixel Watch 2's bezel is just as chunky as before. Google is offering $150 trade in credit for the first Pixel Watch, if you want to upgrade for improved sensors and performance.

I felt the same way about my OG Pixel and 3aXL. But this is now, with Google offering 7 years of updates, etc. Might make the devices more worth your (and my) consideration.
How many people would keep a phone for 7 years though? Battery life would degrade, and hardware would be severely outclassed. Look at the iPhone 15 compared to the iPhone 7, and then compared to the 3GS. I know phones have “plateaued” for now, but we always think that with technology and then it still gets better.

People usually upgrade for the hardware first, software secondary.

Oh please... Apple hasn't done much since the iPhone X, and was only recently been forced by the EU to move from lightning aka USB 2 (from 2001) to USB-C THIS YEAR... let me repeat that... Apple used USB 2.0 from 22 years ago...

Secondly, Google has foldables. As a Canadian I would have jumped on the Pixel fold over the iPhone 15 Pro given the choice.
Respectfully, I think you missed the joke :)

Pretty designs, but I’m not getting burned again by claims of longer battery life.

I think I’m also one of the few who actually enjoyed the first Pixel Watch. Sure it has its problems, but it’s still a decent alternative to the Apple Watch. Well, excluding the price.

Solid year and a nice redesign. I like phones with decent radius curves and whilst I did love the Pixel 6 the corners were a bit sharp.

As always a concentration on features that are helpful in everyday life.

I ordered the porcelain 8 Pro with 256GB which Google is only charging $50 extra, along with the Pixel Buds Pro, matching color. I had $620 worth of credits I used for the purchase but what sealed the deal was the promise of 7 OS updates + 2 years of security updates.

I also ordered an iPhone 15 Pro Max (natural titanium) which all the YT'ers have raved about the color and say you have to see the color in person because photos don't do it justice.

better keep it close by.. you might wanna go back quicker than you think

Don't know about that . I have not brought single iPhone since 12 and have been on Pixel since then. Still not interested switch back to iPhones.

I like iPhone as hardware, but I hate iOS as software. If I can somehow install Android on iPhone, I would instantly buy iPhone.

Google said in its presentation that they designed the Pixel 8 series for repairability and have partnered with iFixit to sell authentic parts and manuals to go along with repairs for the DIY'ers. On the hardware side, that waits to be seen as I have several Pixels which still run just as good with several OS upgrades.

I'm the opposite; I like iOS but can't stand Android. I like the Pixel hardware, though, and lately more-so than Apple.

Wife is strictly Android, so I use it often enough.

The watch is beautiful. Wondering if I could use it with my iPhone at least for notifications.

Base Pixel has a 120hz screen.

The watch looks terrible.

Interesting to see the pro has a brighter screen than the iPhone by 400 nits.

I’m mostly interested in the camera, main sensor size, and the sensor for the telephoto lens is 48mp’s. Would like to have one to test out.

Hey you just described the iPhone perfectly :)

Now go throw thousands of your dollars at Apple. They need your money.

I’ll never understand paying the same amount for an OS ecosystem that is designed to harvest your data for ad targeting vs a competitor that doesn’t.

Shouldn’t the purchase price be reduced given the ad targeting is not something you can opt out of with a Google account? Even if you aren’t creeped out by that, your data has value so why give it away for nothing in return? Feels like double-dipping on Google’s behalf.

Apple isn’t much different to be honest. Almost every 3rd party App on the AppStore is sending data to Facebook Open Graph (or whatever it I called now) and Google as soon as you launch the App and Apple isn’t doing anything about it. So in reality, they already know much more than you think about you. Also, Apples whole privacy angle is smart but also just a an illusion to lock advertisers into Apples rule book. Want to advertise on iOS? Get people to know about your app? Your only chance is using the AppStore and guess what? Apple is getting a commission on any ad you see there (just like Google et al) The difference being, that you have no choice but to use Apple and yes Apple also lets you target by region, gender, age and interests etc just like Google (just not as deep)

Can confirm, the 15 Pro Max is a stunning color (or somewhat lack of). The photo was taken with my iPad in not the best lighting but this gives a decent impression.
