What does that even mean? The Pixel is much cheaper and has far better specs all around, seems like you’ve got it backwards.

Better Specs doesn't equate to a better phone. The iPhone is the preferred phone of most and it is not even debatable. The iPhone runs smoother, faster, better materials, and is envied by all the competition. iPhone is so great that even Google lovers hang out on MacRumors to chirp how better the Android phone is.

Would you rather have an echo chamber? Android phones like my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is just superior to the iPhone for my use needs. It will only get even better once the S24 Ultra is released and foldable phones becomes more durable. Btw, you should tell Macrumors to not post anything that's not Apple. Your superiority complex is pretty telling. I have zero allegence to any company. My phone is Samsung. My main laptop is MBA and main desktop is Windows. I use both Samsung and Apple tablets. They all work great togther for my needs.

Sammy’s are in a different league than the Pixels.

Oh please... Apple hasn't done much since the iPhone X, and was only recently been forced by the EU to move from lightning aka USB 2 (from 2001) to USB-C THIS YEAR... let me repeat that... Apple used USB 2.0 from 22 years ago...

Secondly, Google has foldables. As a Canadian I would have jumped on the Pixel fold over the iPhone 15 Pro given the choice.
Aren't you investing too much emotions over this sarcasm remark?

In some areas better specs do, you can’t say the base iPhones are “smoother and faster” when they are still using 60hz screens. They are objectively NOT smoother, for one, the rest is just your opinion.

Competition is necessary, and it is good, I don’t know what a “Google lover” is, so if someone appreciates good technology from any company that makes them a “xxxxx lover”? I’ve purchased thousands of dollars worth of Apple products just in the last 3 months, yet I am still capable of enjoying good products other companies sell as I’m not married to Apple or any other company.

Google has made some great hardware, their camera ai is better than Apple’s, and it remains to be seen what improvements they’ve made to the new phones. You can get a ported version of googles camera app on most of the popular Android phones, some of its capabilities like Astro mode are remarkable. You haven’t used these phones so you wouldn’t know, I used to be sceptical of anything Android myself until I actually used one, and saw the amazing things gcam could do to my midrange Samsung phone. For example, my 1300 dollar 14 pro max, on a walk at night could only produce some pretty mediocre images, yet my 700 dollar Samsung phone with gcam was spitting out sharp, detailed, great looking images, with very impressive looking light trails from passing cars, handheld.

I hope the Pixel 8 phones, along with the Galaxy S24’s, do some things better than the iPhone. Why? Because that will only push Apple to give us a better iPhone 16, 17, and 18 lineup. I’m into photography, I’m a fan of cameras made by Nikon, Fuji, Sony, Canon, Leica, and more! Theres no rule that you can only choose just one, I used to roll with a Fuji around my neck, and a Canon in hand, both had their strengths and weaknesses.

It is always fun when newbie accounts show up on forums and social media to praise Google, Facebook and Microsoft products.

Even more fun when they do it on Apple boards.

Keep in mind that on MacRumors, the label of "newbie" doesn't necessarily mean a newly created account. It is a reflection of how many messages the account holder has posted, not how long they have been a member.

Despite an account being labeled "newbie", the person could actually be a member here for many years.

People lose their minds when anything other than iPhone get's posted on the main page. 😂😂😂

It's cool that you and 2 others like Samsung! I'm happy for you! Majority of logical thinking individuals on this planet would agree that the iPhone is the superior phone and the superior brand. Same can be said with Apple Watch, iPad. Now I would say MacBook and such but Windows has saturated the market.

I do not have a superiority complex as I honestly could care less about your thoughts/feelings about devices. We all are gonna use devices that work best for us regardless of what others have to say. You could buy and send me a Galaxy Ultra S24++++ and it would sit in the box collecting dust. I'm not even sure I could find a person to give it too unless they wanted to sell. it. Just being honest.

No, because that's Google's AI software that handles that. The camera hardware that Google uses is inferior to that of Apple and Samsung. It's the AI software that does all the computational stuff in the background like magic eraser, unblur and night photos etc.
not really, they all 3 have the same sized sensor for main camera and google has bigger sensors than apple across the board.

I had a Pixel 7 Pro, and while I loved the camera, the phone often overheated and battery life was terrible. On top of that, reception was spotty in my area, even after switching carriers. Not saying the 8 is like that without trying it, but I’m hesitant to go back.

I hope Apple is taking note.

Google has the best software developers in the world and is pushing AI like crazy. Lot of compelling features on this new software release from Google. Surely since Pixel 7 launched, they got my attention.
Apple on the other hand has software that is both badly written and lacking of useful features (please don't comment on this telling me about iOS posters).
Also being able to ask google assistant if your parcel was delivered and getting the exact video recording is mind-blowing. Siri can't even set a reminder without telling me it has problems with the internet connection.

If you believe Google, the new generative AI stuffs are on-device. https://blog.google/products/pixel/google-tensor-g3-pixel-8/
Specifically as it relates to Video Boost:
Google says “Later this year, Pixel 8 Pro will get Video Boost, which pairs Tensor G3 with our powerful data centers to apply cutting-edge processing to your videos.”

Video Boost essentially uses Google's cloud processing power to process every frame of a 4K video recorded by the Pixel 8 Pro, resulting in better dynamic range, vivid color, and details. The enhanced version can be viewed after uploading to Google Photos.

And, I believe it was mentioned that this could take hours to show up in Google Photos.

Apple would never get away with the cloud enabled stuff Google’s doing :)
I am referring more to AI features like web page summary, a serious virtual assistant, call screening, that sort of stuff. I just upgraded to the 15 pro and it is like the 14 pro, which was like the 13 pro, which was like the 12 pro and so on. The hardware gets marginally better and it is always top notch, the software just gets bloated with kids stuff, emojis, posters, the useful features are a rarity nowadays. Without mentioning the pletora of bugs and glitches

Whilst the phone sounds good. I highly doubt Google will keep to their promise of 7 years of software updates. They did not even honour the pixel pass.

I’m definitely a believe in Pixel cameras. I had a 6a and the screen broke and I bought a 13 pro max and the cheap 6a camera is better in my experience
Cameras are good. I had a pixel 2XL which I ended up giving to my husband. I used the pixel 2XL alongside my 12 pro max. For still photos the pixel 2XL was often better.

No one is keeping a phone for 7 years, the point is the resell value will now be higher and second hand sales will be great due to continued support.

Assistant with Bard literally blows the selling point of the 15 pro out of the water, "action button" ffs.

The AI stuff with keyboard, photos and just search was incredible, it really goes to show that even though the iPhone is the most powerful, its dumb as sh*t for a smartphone.
I’m sure there are a lot of people that keep phones as long as they still work. My husband is still using his galaxy note 8 that he got in 2017. He says he doesn’t see any point in upgrading because the phone still does everything he wants.
