Google frequently releases two (or sometimes more) seemingly similar services. Some of the popular examples:
  • Inbox vs. Gmail
  • Chromecast vs. Android TV
  • Chrome OS vs. Android (tablet)
  • Google Voice vs. Hangout vs. Duo vs. well who can keep count
So whenever Google launches a product, I am skeptical to try, because the chance of it likely being discontinued (or at least become an abandonware) is historically high.

I don't use this particular app, but as others have pointed out in this thread, Google's history of releasing and abandoning products is long and ridiculous. I cannot think of any other company that abandons so many products so casually.

I also dislike how major changes in app behavior and functionality are just throw at the user with little warning and with no ability to customize or disable these changes.

For myriad reasons, I do not trust this company.

Maybe now they’ll finally add split screen/slide over support to their iPad gmail app.

i ditched google years ago because they kept removing things i used regularly (google reader for example) and then having to find an alternative, now I use outlook for my email accounts.

No other app has a Reminders feature like Inbox's. I'm freaking out because I really rely on that. I love having my reminders live alongside my emails, snoozing them, creating repeating reminders, etc. If anyone knows of any other app that has a feature like Inbox's Reminders, please let me know.

Same. If I could only get outlook to use my calendar's current name (instead of an old name I used once), I'd be happy.

open an email via the gmail ios app

tap the three dots in the red menu bar ...

a menu should pop up from the bottom, including SNOOZE

the best part of INBOX was that you can swipe to snooze from the main inbox without having to go into the actual email.

Yeah, that’s what I’ve tried. I open the gmail app on my iPhone X, open an email, tap the three dots in the top bar and I get:
> Move To
> Change Labels
> Mute
> Report Spam
> Print All
> Cancel

Or if I tap the three dots beside the from/to/date I get:
> Revert auto sizing
> Reply
> Reply All
> Forward
> Print
> Cancel

It’s so frustrating because I loved the snooze feature in Inbox and switched to the Gmail app when it got snooze because it was updated for iPhone X screen. But it disappeared a while ago and now I can’t use it :-(

have you tried logging out of your gmail account and signing back in? or reinstalling the app?

the feature could be region specific too....don't kow

I don’t think it does. I’ve followed the steps in that link and the (up to date) Gmail app on my iPhone doesn’t have snooze at all :-(
[doublepost=1536863816][/doublepost]If you’re like me, you disabled conversation view. Conversation View has to be enabled for Snooze to show up. Oh the joys of Google.

Oh wow. It would have taken me ages to figure that out. Frustrating because the ability to disable conversation view has been on my wish list since not long after I started using Gmail. And snooze has been on my wish list for years. Why can’t they do both!

NO NO NO - the Inbox app makes everything som much "cleaner" than the gmail...right now everything in my Inbox that has to do with travel is automaticcally grouped under each trip ... I just opened gmail (which I havent used since the Inbox app came out - and now there is just a bundle of travel e-mails in one big mess :(

I am really dissapointed about this :(

Agreed best email client I've ever used. Gmail is a shvtshow comparatively.... :(

Ugh. That sucks. I love inbox - so much easier to organize emails.

God damnit...

This is why I no longer give much faith to Google.

Google giveth and then Google taketh away...

I prefer to maintain my own control over my email and cloud services, rather than putting all eggs into one basket.

im going to switch back to the outlook ios app for a while. i find it much cleaner than the gmail app (and no ads).

So you switch from one corporate giant to another, neither of whom cares about the "little guy" in the grand scheme of things. Genius! Why is Outlook your second choice when there are a wealth of good options out there? You don't need to use the big brands for email. There's are a lot of worthy contenders, many of whom focus on just one service (email) and privacy. I use Runbox(.com) out of Norway, for example.

Because I simply don’t trust my email to a company that’s not a corporate giant without a history of customer privacy like a google and Microsoft.

Pretty sure every other independent 3rd party email app has privacy concerns. Not worth the risk.
