This is frustrating because the name “Inbox” doesn’t lure in your average Joe. When creating an email account people are told to get a “Gmail Account”. Then IF they happen to end up in the App Store they are most likely to land on Gmail or Outlook because they are household names at this point.

It’s just my opinion but I believe if it were named Gmail _____ (Pro, Elite, Lite)(you get the idea) that people would have actually ran into it.

I’m looking at Gmail now and do not look forward to relying on this endless list of tiny paper clip icons, stars, and arrows to keep me on task.

Classic Google, killing off another failed venture.
Ummm.. Mobile Me? iWeb?

Also, at least they don’t tend to kill off hugely successful best in class ventures seemingly for no good reason (See Aperture)

Edit: not stanning for google here, btw. They do indeed suck for this, but so do Apple.

The main features I used on inbox where pin and sweep, sweep was excellent, could get to inbox zero with one tap. Is it in gmail? Can’t see it.

Is it possible, real question, that the app does not offer enhanced opportunities for data mining?

well that's a shame, but Google does has a history of this behaviour

One of the rare times when Google discontinues a product because they've absorbed the functionality elsewhere, rather than just discontinuing it and leaving the users out in the cold.
I use inbox and it is not the same.

Always preferred the Gmail app. Glad to see it win out.
Is that you Jack? Are you sure your alright?:D

Why don’t they merge Waze into Google Maps already with faster turn by turn and ability to run the app on top with notifications like Apple and Google Maps does. Crazy we have to click back to Waze every time we leave the app while driving.

Why would they do that, makes more sense to have multiple programs duplicating the same function. What's next, combining 3 messaging apps into 1?!?!? Besides that would waste valuable developer time for the TRULY important stuff, like making things whiter and slightly more rounded every 3 months.

Apple has made updates to Mail and it works great for me in MacOS and iOS. The only two functions it needs are scheduled delivery and snooze.

It has Siri built in to help me organize emails, tagging, etc. Don't see the need for either Google products.

I think it does but not as well as inbox and I don't think gmail has snooze option on ios notifications. At least that's what I remember when I briefly tried the gmail app again when they introduced snooze. Could be wrong though. I just remember not liking something about the gmail app. I actually wanted to like it more than inbox as well.
[doublepost=1536856483][/doublepost]I mean I rather have just one email client from Google but at least merge or transfer all the good features from the beta inbox into gmail. Hopefully that happens before they officially axe Inbox.
Yeah I've been using the snooze feature in the gmail app for a brief time now and it's just not as good as Inbox. I've also been using Spark with mixed results but certainly better than Gmail. I'll continue using Inbox until it dies.

Honestly, this is really disappointing. Snoozing was not the only reason that people transitioned from gmail to inbox. Inbox is more organized and appealing to the eye with everything much cleaner than the gmail interface. The gmail interface is so clustered and doesn't feel organized at all. There isn't much difference between gmail or yahoo and other such platforms w.r.t the interface. It would have been better if they somehow ditched gmail and shifted everything to inbox instead.
