and I ask again, why is it so bad. There is physically nothing wrong with G+. You might not want to use it but if you have a Google account you already use it. This is really much ado about nothing.
Let me ask you something: Why do you think Google is so desperate to get their social network off the ground? The answer is simple really: Advertising. That's Google's primary source of income. It always has been. And social networks are very profitable for advertisers, since they can collect TONS of personal information and then use this information to more effectively target their ads. Some of us however would prefer not to give our personal information away, and thus try to avoid social networks as much as possible.
Oh there is one thing I can do: stop using as many Google services as possible. It's a painful process that I have begun by changing my default search engine.
