Google Gemini Spark Comes to Mac With Local File Automation

First we let them train themselves with our basic data...
Then we handed over our CC information...
Next we gave them our health records...
Now they want to access our LOCAL files?!

It's a shame because I actually like some of Google's hardware. But their software is all kinds of creepy.

Spark can also be accessed on iPhones and iPads using the Gemini Mobile app, and in Gemini's web-based interface in browsers. Spark's local desktop OS file automation features are currently specific to the macOS desktop app, but apparently Google is rolling out a feature that allows you to perform those actions on your desktop remotely using a smartphone or a tablet, including iPhones and iPads, though the feature still has limited capabilities for performing these kinds of actions on files that are located on a mobile device. If you're not on a paid Gemini tier that qualifies for it (currently only the Ultra plan), you won't see the option for Spark in any of these interfaces.

Oh man the amount of people I know that entered their 365 MFA token on a fake site and got their session hijacked is nuts.

Some lawyers used "AI" to help build their legal briefs. Only problem was the "AI" hallucinated cases that never existed.

The truth is that "artificial intelligence" today is not the least bit intelligent. It is definitely artificial, however. Instead of calling it "AI" they should more accurately simply call it "A."

These systems are really quite stupid. They are not intelligent. For a while there they were telling people there were two "R" letters in the word "strawberry."

These LLMs are just plain dumb A.F. Cheap parlor tricks. Hence "Zork interpreter combined with an enormous (stolen) database of information, combined with a search algorithm combined with a gnat's brain worth of neural network."

I don’t disagree with any of this. I was just trying to be ironic when I said “Why do you feel…” because back in the day, interpreters like the one in Zork or Eliza type programs would just parrot things back to you to try to appear intelligent when they most obviously were not.
