A lot of people like to trash Google but the fact is billions of people all over the world use Google everyday and benefit from them. When they google ”restaurant near me fish”, the restaurant owners benefit from it. Customers also benefited since they got the fish they wanted.

Business owners, big and small, online or offline have benefited from Google by reaching their customers without doing much advertising.

Millions of students have benefited in their learning process because of Google.
When a student is doing their homework and can’t remember how to do a long division, they got their answer instantaneously because of Google.

I have tried 3rd party search engine like DuckDuckGo or Bing but their search result is not as good as Google. I remember how hard was it to find what I wanted before Google. The search engine in the old days before Google like Alta Vista, Yahoo search or Lycos were complete trash compared to Google.

I am grateful to Google. Their search engine has greatly improved my life and I don’t even need to register or pay anything..
I'm sure they are also grateful to you for allowing them to use your browsing profile in order to leverage their advertisers into paying ridiculous amounts of Money for clicks.

My usage policy with Google has evolved into:

• Avoid using Google products and services whenever possible
• No native Google products installed on my Mac, period
• When using Google products in a browser window, never sign in
• If I have to sign in, always use a private window or dedicated browser

I doubt that's airtight, but it's long become my everyday muscle memory.

Ultimately, Apple has aggregated the best customers, which is why Facebook is trying so hard to wrest control of the ecosystem away from Apple.

That’s why any third party handset offering is doomed to fail. I would like to see Facebook and google wage an all-out ecosystem war with Apple, because I am willing to bet that Facebook and google have more to lose (in terms of money) than Apple (who does have alternatives they can funnel their users towards, such as iMessage, news, browser).

I understand Apple’s intent behind them making their ecosystem so sticky that users stay, which Apple then uses to gain leverage over developers. And I support it in its entirety
Google already has a viable alternative which is Android. If Google and Facebook decide to neuter their apps on iPhone (nothing more than a web browser) and obviously make them superior on Android, Apple will lose more than Facebook/Google. There is no viable alternative to Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube. Majority of people will complain at first, and then their next phone is all of a sudden a Galaxy or Pixel. At that point Apple's stranglehold will gradually erode.

I guess you all use a VPN. OK, they too can sell your data but I know some phone operators have sold information in the past, they are probably more careful today but I expect them to log and sell info on sites I visit, hopefully with some data removed.

Id rather be Google's product than Apple's.
