Where as this method by google is so you can print to a printer in new york for example, completely on the other side of the US
Ok, I love convergence and all, but how is that a useful plan? You can already do that with remote access of various sorts between computers, but how many do? Intentionally, I mean.

I wonder if this will work on Windows 2000? I mean I know it says it won't, but hey ;)

I'm gonna try this later, I have a PC Running Windows 2000 that acts as a file server, the catch is, my printer is a network printer. I wonder if this would work, on a networked printer? Gonna be something to try I guess.

English speaking users in the United States? Does Google not know that other countries also have English-speaking users? So I suppose I have to have a US-created Google account to use these features.

well lets face it most of Google's programmers speak English and I would not be surprised if ONLY English so yes that is going to be what gets developed first and then translated into others over time after all the bugs are worked out.

I'll stick with AirPrint.

You mean for those few printers that support it. It seems most have said screw you to Apple and not going to bend over backwards. Apple choose to remove the option to print to older printers or ones that to not support Apples system.

Using google is just careless

Remind me, what is it that google is making money from when they hand out all their software products and services for free.... right! The data they collect from you to sell them to the highest bidder.

I would stay away from google products and their expanding universe as far as possible. Apple might collect lots of data as well via iTunes and Mobile Me, but at least data collecting is not their only way of revenue, by far.

Sending important documents unencrypted to endpoints google controls, you must be kidding me.

sorry i am not going to read thru 6 pages of people moaning its English only but what i want to know is how this works with and ios device as it states chrome os did chrome come to the app store and i was hiding under a rock.

Bah it dont work over here in the uk and if i am not mistaken were english speaking think we invented this english thing hey if i am wrong then woops i dont know how to speak english YOU GIVE ME DOLE

Most people don't have a Mac.

I know. But most of the people reading a MacRumors forum probably do. And the article mentioned a catch that Cloud Print currently requires a Windows machine. So I thought it worth mentioning to the Mac users who want this functionality that it's already available.

Finally, something better without having to buy a new printer

AirPrint = iOS Printing for dummies.

Apple, we need something better that works. Learn from Google. Hopefully they will move their printing drivers to the cloud, making it a universal printing solution. Would be great, even if it requires us to open a port on our firewall.

umm Google makes a fair amount of money off enterprise services it provides. A lot of times the free software it provides becomes stepping stones for one of those services.
