I know about their new security practices. And yes, I've upgraded my account. I just don't trust them after their history of absolutely stupid security and their continued false claims about the privacy of my data.
You don't trust them because they've improved their security?

No, no, no, you've got that all wrong. This is "Pay with Google."

"Google Pay" will be the next payment option they launch. :)

But seriously, they really need to stop this. I love Google Photos and Gmail, but I don't understand why Google insists on creating new apps or services instead of just improving existing ones.

They have what, 3 or 4 different messaging platforms now? I was trying to help a less tech savvy person with their Android phone one day and they said "how do I send someone a text?" I looked at them like they were crazy, you just use the texting app, right? Nope! They had three different messaging apps. Messages, Allo, and Hangouts. All installed by default.

I know Android is all about choice and customization, but I appreciate that Apple keeps it simple. One messaging app. One payment service. Done.

I'm curious if that Android user looked at you like YOU where CRAZY when you tried to explain the reason for having 3 messaging apps. That's not even including WhatsApp too lol. I hope the international messaging question didn't come up ;)

Can you enlighten us on their new security patches?

Please enlighten us on their "false claims" as claimed by you on the privacy of your data?

I got into my account by entering my dog's name and my birthday. Lemme think how many people know that information.

Sorry but I do not mean to be rude. Are you some kind of special need? Isn't that what secret questions are for? You answer them correctly in order to gain access to your account. <- Is this so hard for you to understand?

To clarify, I got into my account *only* by answering those questions. They should have required some additional verification, like an emailed link (which also shouldn't really be enough). Yahoo! had this same issue in 2008, made more famous because USA vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin had her account "hacked' this way by a random dude who Googled the questions.

False claims about privacy = accessing data they said was end-to-end encrypted without the old password. If they really didn't have a key, I shouldn't have been able to do that.

Im waiting for the day when we can leave our ATM cards at home, and fully rely on Apple Pay or Google Pay.

I left my Bank of America ATM card home six months ago and using Apple Watch Apple Pay to get cash all the time without any problem.

Apple and Google need to start using MST. If iMessages is important at staying with Apple's ecosystem, Samsung Pay is like that for Samsung's ecosystem. It's the iMessages for mobile payments except having MST is more universal.

Unfortunately, it is used by only 3.3% of people that could use it, and given that it should be available in most places, that means they have not done a great job getting people interested in it. About half the quick serve restaurants I visit take Apple Pay (including several single location places). All would take Samsung Pay and Android Pay, but the only logo they all display is Apple Pay. As more places begin to accept NFC payments, I would bet that Apple Pay's adoption (by users) will begin to increase quite a bit.

No, they're incredibly stupid. I got into my account by entering my dog's name and my birthday. Lemme think how many people know that information. This was in 2015.
I remember how angry I was when I was forced to populate these "security" questions. It was obvious for me that they reduced my security. I don't remember what exactly I needed to do at that point but I was not able to proceed without populating them. And that a typical Apple approach - user never have a choice. The only choice you have to switch to something else. Because of that I always prefer to use multiplatform solutions instead of single-platform and especially apple only solutions.

I'd rank it like this -

1. Cash, 100%

2. Debit/credit card, 97% (some restaurants are CASH ONLY)

3. Samsung Pay, 85%

4. Apple Pay, under 50% (of places I go)
5. Android Pay, under 40%

Samsung Pay will have a few issues -
ATM machine/bank
Vending machines
Certain hole in the wall restaurants/stores
Drive-thru places and having to hand them your phone is less convenient as just handing them cash or card

I only used Apple Pay ONCE and it was because I left my Samsung and debit card at home. It was at a McDonald's. Android Pay? Never. I usually love Google services -

Google Search
GMail
YouTube
Google Maps
Google Now
Google Photos
Google Voice

I believe we all do use one of them no matter if we are on Apple's ecosystem or not. But Android Pay isn't one of them for me. I still keep Android Pay on my phones but hidden.

Samsung Pay is the best mobile payment out there but cash or card is still better and just more convenient than paying with your phone or watch while in a drive-thru.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this just another so-called "Android Pay"?

It sounds more like it simply fills in the address and payment fields for you.

Apple does not store your card number, in fact, they re-issue you a different card number only your device and the bank knows.

Apple doesn't issue that. They simply pass on the token account that the bank (via their token vault) gives you.

For that matter, the bank could echo back your real number and Apple Pay would happily use it.

Never used Samsung Pay, but I'm curious if it works at all at chip-enabled merchants. I'm Canada, you'd have better luck finding a unicorn than you would a merchant that will accept a mag swipe on a card that has a chip.

Samsung Pay uses NFC if it's there, otherwise it use the MST magswipe method. Both are tokenized, btw.

Oh sorry, you meant a chip terminal with no NFC. Yes, it sends a mag swipe record with the "I have a chip" flag turned off, so the terminal won't ask for the real card. I believe they got the permission and cooperation of the credit card networks to do this.

If it still is NFC-based, Samsung Pay will continue to be superior over its competitors.

I rarely ever use Apple Pay and Android Pay because the restaurants I go to (Yoshinoya, Andes Peruvian Grill) and many gas stations or liquor stores don't accept either. Samsung Pay has MST. Many cash registers don't have NFC at all.
[doublepost=1508775748][/doublepost] It already exist. It's called Samsung Pay. Although maybe 5% you will get shut out with it like in a few gas stations or old liquor stores. Still, a 95% or higher acceptance is still better than 50-60% with Apple Pay and Google Pay. Not all of us likes to eat at McDonald's or KFC for lunch.
Nobody will switch to

It would be nice if EVERYONE could enjoy this as well. Right now it pretty much depends on where you live and if Apple Pay is supported.
