If I want anything paid or not from the market I just download and buy it from the market, back up the app to the SD card on my Hero and transfer the APK to my Archos.

And pray it isn't infested with malicious code. :p

You mean to say those banking apps by Droid09 wasn't an official app!

Ffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuu! :p

Questions about Nexus software updates and multitouch

officially.

Looks very nice. Way more attractive than the Droid. I guess some will continue to cling to their physical keyboards, but I'll never voluntarily own another device with one (I say voluntarily because I still have a work issued bb), so this is a big step up over the droid.

Available on t-mo now and Verizon soon - time for the iphone to get off the AT&T exclusivity, I'd say.

from the Q&A:
"Rubin said it's inaccurate to say that Google designed the phone: Google is just merchandising it on the store, similar to any retailer, and HTC designed the phone."

Interesting. So much for "google's pure vision of what a phone should be"?

So is it true that android phones don't have updates when new software is released?

Is it true that this phone does not have multi-touch? why not???

Android is a mixed bag when it comes to updates. From the top of my head here's how it stands:

HTC Dream (T-Mobile G1): Currently Android 1.6, no news on further updates.
HTC Magic: Android 1.6 with a 2.1 update on the way.
HTC Hero: Android 1.5 with a 2.1 update on the way.
HTC Droid Eris: Android 1.5 with a 2.1 update on the way.
Samsung Galaxy i7500: Android 1.5, with no further updates planned.
Motorola Droid/Milestone: Android 2.0.1 with a 2.1 update on the way.
HTC Nexus One: New flagship Android phone with Android 2.1

Bit of a poor state of affairs but the roumors are that the original iPhone isn't going to get iPhone OS 4.0 either which will leave the G1 and the iPhone 2G in the same limbo.

Is it true that this phone does not have multi-touch? why not???
The Nexus One released in the U.S has multitouch support for 3rd party applications but none of the native apps support it. The european release is roumored to have full multitouch support, similar to the Motorola Milestone (the European "Droid") and features multitiouch throughout the OS.

Multitouch Browsing on the Nexus One (Or Any Android Device)

That's a tiny amount of standard storage, but overall the phone looks good.

its not an apple product, it has a MicroSDHC slot, you can throw in 32GB of flash whenever you feel like. 16GB SDHC's are like $40 i think 32's are about $80-$100

also if you have to hard reset the phone without a computer near, all your stuff is still on the microsd card so you dont loose anything.

also you can upgrade the operating system using your sdhc (kind of like installing linux from a USB Drive)

Question, I am curious, do you think aside from the iPhone, some of the google phones are aimed at, and use this very lightly, "geek" type people who like to tweak etc... I am just curious. And do you think this is a good thing for smart phones or do you think it pushes some away?

A Nexus One update is now rolling out with full multitouch support across the default apps.

That's another common complaint off the list. :)
What was that about Apple patents?
;)

Mr Jobs has been vicious with Google and Adobe, Google will be vicious with Mr Jobs!:p

Nice. In response to Jobs' "don't be evil is BS" probably :)

On average the iPhone is about 5 to 10 seconds slower than the Nexus One. (depending on which site you're on)
It was enough for me to buy the Nexus One, and I think it's way better than the 3GS
And seems like everyone and their dog has an iPhone these days.. too many sheep.

The average website takes less than 5-10 seconds to load on my iPhone 3GS, so the Nexus One must be instantaneous.

how much faster is the nexus one when it comes to loading web pages?

There's not much in it from the 3GS from what I've seen (either way).

The biggest factor in getting a Nexus One in the U.S (if you live there) should be T-Mobile's coverage which I've heard is not the best.
