People on this site just love to hate on Google because they think Apple has their best interest at heart. They apparently forget that both companies are in it to make money and will do whatever they need to in order to make the investors happy.

Apple is just dreamy while Google is the devil! Id say the truth is somewhere in the middle for both.
 
thats actually really cool... i ender why theyre rendering everything in rainbow dots.. why not a street view type of view?
 
I am more afraid of Google than the NSA by far. I understand the need of NSA, but Google will only do this so they can sell your information and ads.

Just imagine that once they have your living room in a 3D map than all your ads will be loaded with furniture ads or other needs for the empty space.

I am neither a terrorist nor a pedophile... But, I'd rather have my privacy inside my home... I don't mind my government monitoring my texts or my calls or my movement... But once I am at home I would not like my private family moments to be monitored or pictured ir whatever... If this phone does 3D mapping all the time even inside homes what is the guarantee it won't capture my wife and me making out or any other personal and private moments and send all images to google...? Thanks, but, no thanks...

They already took pictures of the outside of my home with street view.

Now they want pictures of the inside of my home.

What is this chit?

It isn't being afraid of NSA.

it is being "afraid" of Google.
all Google wants is your info to sell to advertisers (you want my info, buy it)
Apple at least sells you product for $$ but then doesn't take the info to sell. Google does (and sells product cheap to lure in people)

I HATE seeing ads for something i searched for on Amazon once to see the price. I HATE seeing ads for stuff I already bought (fish filter) and continue to be bombarded because I frequent a fish forum.
or that Camera strap and tripod...hey Google notice how i stopped looking at them after i bought it.

All this will do is get Google's Eyes into my life.
This is why I don't sign into Google services.

This doesn't appear to do much more than my 123D Catch app already does on my iPhone. They're just photographing around the room instead of focusing on an object. It seems 123D could expand to do the same things.

Ok, I watched the video two times and cant see why? You can make games using your enviorment and see how furniture fits your home. And then what? What is the idea? What is the purpose?

I honestly would be pretty impressed if they could upload large amounts of data using only consumer wifi and mobile data into the Google complex without anybody noticing.

It's called a 'One Trick Pony'. But, you probably get a crappy smart phone with it.
 
Cool… but the question I have is why does it have to be in a phone? Seems this early, just a device to capture the data is good enough?

I guess if you make it a phone too, people will think it's coming to their Android phone soon????

Interior designers could use it to quickly make a model of a space? I thought the blind guy using it to get audio cues seemed useful.

Other than that… just imagine how cool it would be to play flappy birds in 3D in you're own living room!!!! :rolleyes:
 
Google is by far the most interesting and exciting tech company right now. Apple looks dinosaur like in comparison. Kinda like Microsoft did in the 2000s.
