Canadian here. Can confirm a rollout in Calgary. Heard it for the first time a couple of days ago.

So wait. Are you saying the best map company is just getting this feature? Oh wow! I was wondering why they purchased Waze. I wonder why there was no uproar about Google not having this when Apple added it in 2017? https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/speed-limits-shown-in-apple-maps.2049680/

I have actually used Apple maps daily but also have used it for deliveries as far back as 2016 and it was as accurate as Waze, just no police warnings, but more accurate than Google on multiple occasions.

Exactly (@genovelle), you'll always hear how good Google maps is, well, I find nothing but mistakes here, just last week 2 in a row, Apple Maps was correct, about half a year ago went for holidays in here in Europe, again Google not knowing what to do with a roadblock, sends me completely the wrong way, on that same trip Apple Maps did much better, and then there is Google's privacy.
I use Google as little as I can now, on my job but that's about it.

Tl:dr Apple Maps has better accuracy/privacy.

My favorite Google Maps features don’t include this one. Google’s Explore Nearby assistant is far more useful than Apple’s humble Yelp info. Also, the ability to have multiple destinations/stops during a trip is priceless.

That speed trap thing is insane. Why not just automatically reroute drunk drivers around DUI checkpoints if the GPS shows they just left a bar? Maybe it can help create the best getaway routes for bank robbers too.

I live off of two of the deadliest roads in the United States. I4 (the single deadliest) and HWY 27 in central Florida.

I get it that most people see speeding tickets as meeting a quota to fund the department, and they are that a lot of the time, but they also discourage a deadly behavior. When they set up a speed trap on my roads it isn’t because it’s the end of the month, it’s because too many people have died recently.

I would also assume that these warnings rely on users to report. I don’t need some guy so defensive of his right to break the law that he grabs his phone to report a speed trap while zipping down the highway.

So far it has started giving audible warning off upcoming speed cameras. But it does not display the current soeed limit or camera location on the map yet.

It's not going to kill Waze until they allow user input which I don't think has happened yet. I saw a police car on my way to work this morning and there was no way to notify.

Interesting. Apple aiding and abetting speeding motorists to break the law. Mock if you will but speeding motorists kill. I hope someone near and dear to you is not next.

I can see these Waze-like features on Google Maps natively on the iPhone but not translated to the CarPlay screen.

Anyone have any idea when Apple (or Google) will implement this feature so that we can get speed trap alerts via Google Maps straight up on CarPlay?

Thanks.

Does anyone get audible alerts when they go over the limit?
I don't (UK user). Not that you can actually drive more than 20mph due to traffic anyway..
