Waze will probably always be separate. Your average mom and pop don't want Waze directions that take them down side streets, ask them to constantly make unprotected lefts, etc. They like the conventional routes and would probably get confused if prompted to select a route with one conventional option and one fast Waze option.

But I agree -- they need a turn by turn WAZE APP IMMEDIATELY! I bet they could even charge for it. The amount of time it's saved me driving around L.A. is worth at least $19.99

Waze is life. I just need to know where the Cops are when driving in the car pool lane by myself. :)

Google Maps Apple Watch app requested me to turn on web history for the app to work. Uninstalling.

In the same way as using a phone?
Which is proven to be more dangerous that driving drunk...
Glancing at your watch is not the same as trying to text and drive. You also glance at your radio or your air conditioning knob or someone sitting next to you for a moment. This is on your wrist where your hands are on the wheel. I'll say it again, if you can't glance at your watch and drive safely, then you should not be driving.

Maybe, but why on earth would you want turn by turn directions on your watch while driving?
Oh your iphone, at least you can have it mounted on the dashboard closer to your normal line of site to the road.

On the AW, you don't even have to glance at it. You can discriminate left and right turns by the different haptic patterns, at least when using Apple Maps.

What I like about it is that it reminds me that a turn is coming up and I can just glance down and see which direction the next turn is going to be so that I can start getting over to the proper lane.

You don't even have to glance down to determine the direction. Just feel for the different haptic patterns for left and right turns.

i love the new menu options in the app itself, but the AW app is god damn pointless. Really, cant even give me a location based turn notifications? Or at least pop UP the turn notifications from the google maps app. googs is over in the console yelling at me and this flipping app is stuck on '6 minutes to home' screen :p

This app doesn't seem very helpful, especially after using Maps on the watch. I installed it just to check. Uninstalled on the watch in less than 5 minutes. The app on the phone is a different story altogether !

Cheers !

Waze = Google Maps but I agree.

Just wish Waze could provide notifications for directions and be able to cache maps like GMAPS.

Actually, they frequently return very different results even though Google owns Waze. I'm guessing most people would stop sending updates if Google incorporated it into its own app. That would basically make Waze worthless for Google.

I was really expecting this one, but Google's implementation right now is just useless...
Apple Plan is great on the Watch, it's just missing the bike mode that Google has. I guess now I will have to wait for Apple to add this mode...

I think the Apple Maps app actually beat Google Maps this time... their turn-by-turn directions are awesome on the watch.

I pretty much completely agree with you, however, the only thing I don't like about Apple Maps' the turn-by-turn on the watch are the sounds for turning either left or right - 3 high pitched sounds for an upcoming left turn, and 3 higher pitched sounds for an upcoming right turn (or is that the other way around?). Wish there was an option to make it 2 simple sounds for turning left and 3 for turning right. Probably just me but I often forget which sounds are which when driving. Anyhow...

Hmm, this is actually the first Apple Watch use case that seems useful to me. I'd get directions while walking or taking the train without having to pull out my phone.

I'd use Waze more if the interface weren't so annoying! And having used Google Maps recently, I really don't like how it navigates compared to stock Maps. Mixes me up while driving.
