It only shows driving directions on Apple Watch. How to I get it to show transit?

Glancing at your watch is not the same as trying to text and drive. You also glance at your radio or your air conditioning knob or someone sitting next to you for a moment. This is on your wrist where your hands are on the wheel. I'll say it again, if you can't glance at your watch and drive safely, then you should not be driving.

I'll say it again, it's worse than useless

You don't need to read the a/c it's a device that's able to be used without looking at it. You glance over to see where it is only. A 38mm screen is hand off the wheel, "read" it because unless you are on simple roads it's not going to just be a left or right for most journeys. Stay in left lane, then centre lane then exit right..

Issue is the me too device not the app.

I hope they offer turn-by-turn directions soon, like how Apple Maps does it now.

I would use Apple Maps, but it still sucks for me. And I am in Los Angeles.

I keep hearing people say how it is as good, or better, as google now, but it just got me lost last week with bad driving directions.

how about giving the Official Gmail app some love, Google ? Not everyone likes the Inbox app, and theres quite a few annoyances and unpolished areas of the Gmail app, not even to mention lack of an Apple watch extension. Typical Google, just leaves certain apps behind to wither and die.

I think Google Maps is great. I switch back and forth from that and Apple Maps depending on the situation. And I love how they always give good updates, too. I can't wait until they incorporate 3D Touch! Nice to see it come to the Apple Watch.

Its just a shame that Apple Maps are next to useless outside of North America

Pretty great for me recently as a UK resident and as a tourist in Spain (Barcelona, Madrid), Denmark (Copenhagen, Helsingor), Sweden (Malmo, Helsingborg) and Italy (Rome).

Particularly handy in Rome with Flyover when wandering the beautiful streets.

As with a lot of things tech (not just Apple) - the vocal minority online dictate opinion that isn't shared by the wider consumer market.

I think the Apple Maps app actually beat Google Maps this time... their turn-by-turn directions are awesome on the watch.

Love the wrist taps for directions. Superb.

I honestly wanted to get one on launch day or as close to that as possible; but I have an old macbook pro to replace and waiting for gen 2 has paid off in the past for me, specially with my still functioning (and getting replaced in december) ipad 2.

Why does every apple watch app have that horrible UI, just a black background with some text on it.

It looks so basic doesnt look polished at all

Actually, I rather like it because of it's simplicity. Being a small screen often read under bright ambient lighting, the light text on a dark background is quick and easy to read. For a larger screen, I agree. I like more variety. But that's not what I'm after for my watch face.

Maybe, but why on earth would you want turn by turn directions on your watch while driving?
Oh your iphone, at least you can have it mounted on the dashboard closer to your normal line of site to the road.

I used my watch last week while on a trip to florida spending a lot of time driving in very unfamiliar territory. The watch was GREAT! The haptic feedback was amazingly helpful.

Hmm, this is actually the first Apple Watch use case that seems useful to me. I'd get directions while walking or taking the train without having to pull out my phone.

I'd use Waze more if the interface weren't so annoying! And having used Google Maps recently, I really don't like how it navigates compared to stock Maps. Mixes me up while driving.

I would start to use Waze if it didn't track me while the app is not running!

Ditto the Waze comments. Hands down the best routing app, period.

I've used Waze for almost two years now. It's gotten worse and worse. Ever try to find a gas station while already in directions? It hasn't worked for three versions. Every little pebble on the side of the road is reported as a hazard so people get their 6 points. It's terrible. Apple Maps is so much better in iOS9, and with the Watch, it's an absolute dream. My one 3rd part map love? Mapkin. Such a great idea, I hope Apple buys them.

"Vehicle stopped on shoulder ahead."

Agreed with the gas station functionality. I normally have to resort to reading the interstate exit signs to find one.

This is cool but I have to say I haven't installed any apps on my watch. I use it for time, exercising and base installed apps like weather, messaging, email and weather. Still waiting for that killer app. Either way love my watch as it is.

Actually, for me, I don't need a killer app. The built-in fitness/workout app (with stats collected on my phone) and being able to take a quick glance at incoming messages, emails, and calendar events suits me fine. And after 10 years of not wearing a watch, I'd now miss not being able to look at my wrist for the time and date - so yeah, it's great as a watch, too.

Exactly!! I may not have been clear but that is what I was trying to say. I don't need a killer app. Always on look out for one that wows me but I never wore a watch my entire life and now I love wearing my apple watch. My main reason for getting it was for exercising and it has not disappointed me.

It's not 2013 anymore .... Apple Maps isn't worse than Google maps
Yes, it is. Google has years of experience and backend information advantage of Apple. Google Maps is significantly ahead of Apple Maps, especially in the POI department.

What do mean "charging your watch while I commute"? If you charge your watch overnight it should last you all day unless you're using it for hours long workouts or driving directions.
I wear my watch overnight for an initial alarm and sleep tracking. I charge during shower and while I drive since I'm using my phone for Waze and nothing gets pushed to the watch, so why not.

Anyone get the Notification Center widget to work? It just says no transit stations available but I live in the heart of Manhatttan.
