While we wait for Google to finish it, EggMaps is currently awaiting app store approval. A fast, native app that uses Google's maps, and works on iOS6. See http://www.eggmaps.com/ .

jQuery Mobile HTML5 app, bundled as a native app through some technology such as PhoneGap. Not exactly what I would call a "native" build. Having worked with jQuery Mobile myself, the DOM gets super heavy and lags massively as a result - even when deployed as a "native" app..

I say apple should keep google's stupid map outta the App Store.

On what grounds? If you're going to post such a ridiculous comment at least back it up with some form of explanation.

Because Google is eeeeevil, of course, and every true Apple fan must hate the Google and all it's products/services...

Just because we love Apple products, there is no reason to hate other companies.

Because of Android kids in poor countries have access to tablets helping with their eduction. Google has lots of projects to improve technology and human life.

Bill Gates is doing lot of work to improve health in poor nations.

Elan Musk (SpaceX) with less than a Billion(Apple has 100s of Billions), trying to find cheaper way for space transportation.

Red Bull which sells energy drinks (benefits we can argue) sponsored a program which is going to change space travel safety forever.

I know, I was being sarcastic :)

I am both a Google and Apple fan, they are my two favorite companies and I am a happy user/customer of their products/services.

I guess, the symbol is a way to identify one of the 24 data sources. Car symbol is for TomTom.
Thanks for the explanation as I seriously had no idea why train stations had car icons next to their name.
Still, you'd have to agree that it doesn't make any sense from a user's perspective.
