Do people still use Google Maps much? Apple Maps is pretty excellent nowadays and the full integration and parity between all my Apple devices keeps me using it. The only area that I've noticed Apple is behind Google in maps is with street view, and less importantly, 3D satellite views of some cities. For some reason my home town, Kansas City, and the surrounding area totaling 2.2 million people don't have either. I looked it up, and it seems like there are only 19 cities in the US that even support this yet:
- Atlanta, GA
- Boston, MA
- Chicago, IL
- Denver, CO
- Detroit, MI
- Houston, TX
- Las Vegas, NV
- Los Angeles, CA
- Miami, FL
- New York, NY
- Oahu, HI
- Philadelphia, PA
- Phoenix, AZ
- Portland, OR
- San Diego, CA
- San Francisco Bay Area, CA
- Santa Cruz, CA
- Seattle, WA
- Washington, DC
I don't use either feature much, but when I do sometimes need street view, it's usually for something important. How has Apple not scanned every city after so many years? I remember Google had nearly everything scanned at least 15 years ago, maybe more.
