Will Google Maps be available on iphone 5?
We don't know, ask Google.
Will Google Maps be available on iphone 5?
I tried using it before my post, pinch to zoom does nothing here. Double-tapping or hitting the + button worked to zoom though.Yes you can, it seems you haven't used it ever, or for a very long time.
Why would google pay its developers to make a free app for its rival?

The drop-down menu on the right wasnt doing anything either. (I assume its a drop-down menu)
If pinch-to-zoom should be working, well thats indicative of the kind of experience the web app offers compared to the native app. (Safari in iOS 6, on an iPad 3)
Weird, it looks like the JavaScript it needed wasnt being loaded correctly the first time or something.
Revisiting the site, I was now prompted to save it as an app to the home screen and pinch-to-zoom and that drop-down menu works correctly.
The satellite images dont appear to be Retina, but the rest is now.
It doesnt pan around the map or load new tiles nearly as smoothly as the old iOS 5 app did.
While it may work its definitely a compromised experience compared to the old app, and not a good substitute for a native app.
Safari still has to load. Hello? It's obvious you don't understand...yes it's through safari, but it's not like opening up safari and typing in the address, and if you look at the link I provided you might understand.
Anyway I am done trying to explain something to someone who doesn't seem interested in actually understanding something and is only here to complain.
Will Google Maps be available on iphone 5? I don't like Apple Maps and this is a deal breaker for me. I really want the iphone 5 but must have google maps. Does anyone know? Thanks.

Google Maps also has to load. Just played with the web app, it's just as functional and easy to use as the native version.

For my use, where I live, Apples map is actually better. Dunno what all the fuzz is about?!

How do you drop a pin on the web app?
How can I access my bookmarks and my contacts' addresses via the web app?
If you're referring to Oslo, I seriously question the validity of your claims. Not only are googles offering more detailed and easier to read, Apple maps is so full of errors it's embarrassing. For instance, they have found room for oth a restaurant and a hair dresser in Slottsparken (uk reference, like finding businesses in the garden of Buckingham Palace). It's ****.

Nothing Google does is free. It's paid for, but not by you, but by people who want to access your's and others' location and web-browsing information. Google will create a Google Map app so that it can collect information from you (and in some cases, about you) and sell it. This is why they created a YouTube app already.
My bad. Google Maps revenue, not Google revenue overall, though recent reports put iOS as providing 40% of Google's total mobile revenue, eclipsing even Android.Google had something like 38Billion dollars of revenue last year and you are saying the single largest source of that revenue was the IOS maps application?
