It's pretty sad that google is fixated on consumer hardware design. Software, and system platform hardware to support it, are where it's been really at for at least 30 years. I guess they didn't get the memo.

As lame as this might be...I like the idea of iPhone and Pixel being friends. Nothing about this makes me want to buy a Pixel more (especially seeing a sparkly and caseless new Pixel Pro up against a previous-gen iPhone made to look worse in an ugly, bulky case), but it was cute!

it’s okay Google, no one is going to choose you willingly anyways. Ugly or not, the 17 Pro will destroy you in sales.

Google this week targeted the upcoming iPhone 17 in an ad for the Pixel 9 Pro, mocking Apple's design plans and suggesting that Apple often copies Android features.

The iPhone 17 isn't released, of course, so Google's ad is based on rumors that the iPhone is going to get a horizontal camera bar at the back, which is a Pixel-esque design. Dummy models and mockups of the iPhone 17 depict a thick horizontal camera bar for the iPhone 17 Pro models, and a slimmer, more Pixel-style camera bar for the iPhone 17 Air.

Google's Pixel lineup has long used a horizontal camera bar, but it has lenses arranged in a horizontal line. Apple plans to continue to use a triangular arrangement for the iPhone 17 Pro models, and will simply expand the camera bump.

In the ad, Google points out that the Pixel had a horizontal camera bar first, before delving into other features that Apple has allegedly copied. The video is positioned as a "podcast" featuring a Pixel phone and an iPhone.

Google highlights Night Mode, Clean Up, and widgets as examples of features that were available on Android first. The video wraps up with the iPhone copying a line that the Pixel says first: "We want to remind everyone that these rumors are just rumors."

"Please don't go repeating everything you see," reads the video description. Google has used the iPhone and Android ad format in the past to mock Apple's iPhone design decisions, most recently targeting Apple's switch to USB-C.

Google, the data mining advertising company who actually wholesale copied Apple’s iPhone IP (along with Samsung) for its Android OS (which is based on Java), is yammering on about a camera bump on the back of an unreleased and unannounced phone? This, after copying Apple iOS with its latest Material Design in order to sell more phones? Who gives a poop? People are so fickle. Apple’s copied far less valuable tech from Google than the other way around, over the years. Just ask ChatGPT to list some of the things Google has copied from Apple. Also, the camera bar was done by LG first.
Steve Jobs showed too much mercy to Eric Schmidt and scumpany.

Apple’s stuck with a choice: leave the iconic camera setup how it is, and ignore all the wobble complaints, or fix the issue with a redesign and put up with screeching from the pixel fans about “copying”.

Personally, I don’t care about the wobble, since I’m always holding my phone when I type.

What an insignificant thing to brag about.

I’ve kinda wondered if there is a reason behind it, such as replacing the telephoto with a periscope lens for zoom.

Can’t win. Leave it the way it is and people complain about the wobble. Change the design and now they’re copying.

Speaking of the wobble, how hard are you pushing down on your screens? I can do whatever on it without initiating any wobble.

That is because Google still makes a subpar phone.

I have a Pixel 8 Pro. So much nicer than the iPhone in many ways. Except, it’s not as good for typing on somehow. The keyboard just isn’t the same to me. But obviously, the loss of the locked in ecosystem built for anti competition is a big win. I don’t believe anything any of the companies do. It’s all marketing. More power to Google for pointing out how Apple copies them.
Google actually copies everyone because they cannot design anything worth a crap.

"Mac vs. PC" playbook aimed at the market leader to raise brand awareness. Alphabet doesn't care whether you use iPhone or Pixel as long as you use the search engine and services. Hardware sales are insignificant compared to advertising revenue.

Mac v PC for the mobile age
If only it were that whimsical. We also didn’t have people asking for Apple to redesign the MacBook every year! (A device which hasn’t really changed much in 20 years for a reason also)

I never understood why people want more Google than necessary. Having Android on a phone is necessary evil, if you want to avoid Apple, but why buy a phone completely built by Google or even use the Chrome browser? Google's whole business model is spying on its customers. It even admits that chats with Gemini are not private.

It is lame, but for Apple to put a massive camera bar on the back of the phone and claim "new design" is just ridiculous. They've seriously lost the plot when it comes to redesigning the iPhone.

How about they make a thicker phone with no freaking camera hump? That would be a truly new design.
That's the least of the things Apple has done and claimed them or suggested as their own new ideas/designs, over the decades.

Did you know that if not for Apple we wouldn't have smartphones? Digital music players? Thin laptops? Mini PCs? /s

If Google wasn’t such a data vacuum, I’d have switched to a Pixel Pro last upgrade cycle. But privacy, AirPods and AppleTV keep me in the Apple garden (for now).
AppleTV is on Android too, AirPods are working perfectly fine with Android (beside a fact that there are better options with better sound quality) and what kind of privacy are you talking about? What search engine do you use on your iPhone? What social sites do you use? They all are spying you, neverthless a phone brand.
