[...] More FUD spread by the "iOS is the only god OS" crowd.

And what were you expecting to see here in the MacRumors forum?

Were you expecting the usual defensively militant pro-Android "YAY OPEN" posts?

Were you expecting the usual trivial and irrelevant Galaxy / iPhone hardware spec comparisons?

Were you expecting the usual best-defense-is-a-good-offense Samsung apology posts?

Are you shocked to see so many pro-Apple posts here?

Just trying to understand your psychology. Please enlighten all of us.

The same thing I expect from anyone : Objectivity. If you have something against Android/iOS, state it. Don't make **** up and don't annoy others with any unfounded opinions pulled out of your behind.

If you don't like Android : Don't comment on it. If you don't like iOS, don't comment on it.

You can like both OSes, no need to pick sides. What were you expecting to see on MacRumors ? People that are one sided ? How vain.

If they make a non plastic phone with superior battery life and itunes syncing then I would buy the 32gb for $1000.

Android is in my opinion the better and more fun to use OS. iphone just ticks all the other boxes.

What's so bad about plastic? What did it do to deserve this huge stigma everyone here has over it? It's not like aluminium is an expensive, high class material on par with platinum or anything. I can buy a square foot block of the stuff for $15 bucks.

Why is a plastic phone so terrible and cheap? It doesn't make the iPhone 5 feel high quality when I hold it in my hand. Quite the opposite. The 4 and 4S felt so nice because of the glass surrounding it more than the aluminium itself.

NFC won't work with an aluminum back anyways and that is a part of it being more fun.

You don't have used an Android device in your life.

On the desk in front of me, I have the following Android devices (I own every single one of them):

Google Nexus 10, Google Nexus 4, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Kindle Fire HD 8.9", Kindle Fire HD 7", Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Samsung Galaxy S2,....(and about 20-30 more that I'm too tired to list)

Should I keep going? I own and use more Android devices than you will in your entire lifetime.

Just curious why so many devices of the same OS?

Plastic was fine when Apple had the 3GS and the polycarbonate Macs. But now that they don't, it's a cheap knock off material.

And when/if Apple goes back to plastic - it will be revolutionary because of how thin, light and strong it is. How Apple knew that they had to wait until the right type of plastic was perfected before just putting out crap until it was. Etc...

I agree that "better" is not the best term to use. However, a device with higher benchmarks does outperform one with worse. That's the point I was trying to get across. Regardless, benchmarks are not a subjective value as some here are trying to argue.

Not true, you are not factoring the operating system and other technologies into the equation. For instance, Apple's tight integration of iOS with the hardware allows it to run faster and more smoothly on objectively "slower" silicon than its Android competition. You can have a Cray Supercomputer inside of a 10" tablet, but it does nothing if the software running on top is woefully inefficient.

Of course I'm factoring software in. Can you provide an example of a device that receives high benchmarks and then performs poorly? These devices are hardware+software. I couldn't separate them if I tried.

The actual benchmark, as in numbers, is not a subjective value. Whether or not someone cases what the benchmarked value is or not doesn't make the value subjective. A benchmark is an objective measurement. That's all I'm saying and it was in response to samcraig who said benchmarks are subjective. No they are not. What you think about benchmarks are subjective, but the actual benchmarked value is an objective measurement

There just might be an AndroidTrollClassics.com for pro-Android propaganda.
Google it.

Oh, and the last time I checked, it was a free country. Plenty of room for opinions here.

He's assuming that some people can be a fan of something without being a total idiot about it.

Ever hear of "cheering for the wrong team"?

That's the psychology I'm trying to understand.

"The wrong team" is a pretty subjective thing, man. Cheering for the Vols over Crimson Tide doesn't make you a disturbed individual, and doesn't require someone to study your psychological makeup to understand why you'd choose them over the other. It's a matter of opinion. Nothing more.

...actually, I take that back. Vols fans are all crazy.

I never said anything about opinions, I said I didn't like lies and FUD.

Try to understand the difference. You can have any opinion you want, but make sure it's informed and based on facts rather than figments of your imagination.

Don't spread misinformation and you won't get corrected. No one is asking for pro-Android propaganda, but I'd sure like the anti-Android propaganda to stop. If you don't like it, no need to make stuff up about it, stick to the facts or just move on from threads that don't interest you. This isn't AppleIsTheOnlyGoodCompanyAroundTrolls.com either.

Ever hear of "not cheering for a team at all" ?

Why is it such a foreign concept around these parts ? Why do we need to pick sides and "cheer" and "boo". Are you being paid or rewarded by your "team" ?

Motorola's particularly crappy atitude (even by the standards of the Android crowd) to supporting devices (i.e. not even supplying major software updates for the 18 months most people are tied to a device) and making promises they later refuse to keep (Tegra 2 ICS upgrades, for example) means I won't touch another product of theirs with a barge pole - all of this has happened both before and continued after the Google takeover for anybody hoping they would change as a result.

This, as we all know, is one are where Apple stand head an shoulders above the Android collective and I'm not going to argue in the favour of the latter as I usually would. The Android device manufacturers need to put their heads together and agree to put at least 18-24 months of support commitment into every product they make if they want to stay ahead. People like me will always keep tinkering to keep the latest AOSP/CyanogenMod release on hardware that's long expired in the manufactuer's eyes, but Joe Public won't and needs to know Samsung/Motorola/hTC/whoever aren't going to forget him 6 months down the line before Microsoft/RIM/whoever start capitalising on the crap OEM-Customer relationship most people have with Android devices today.

Maybe one day I'll have my dream of a Nokia AOSP-friendly Android device. But I doubt it :(

How do you get anything done with all that stuff on your desk? :D:D

I'm amazed

I'm amazed at the amount of time/posts that android fans spent on a Mac/iOS forum and specifically this thread trying to defend android OS from iOS fans. What is the point?

Guys,

LIFE is more than proving that your favorite OS is the de facto or trying to prove other people wrong. Just enjoy the devices that suit you and stop making this forum a war zone for something so unimportant in life as a phone OS.

You can have any device, your claims show that you don't have used Android.

And yet here you are in the alternatives to iOS sub forum posting this. You can't see the contradiction?

I come to these forums because I use a Mac AND Android (omg that IS possible). Whats your excuse?

I post in this sub forum to correct all the misinformation and FUD I see spouting from iOS users who should steer clear of this section if they don't like.

Plastics =/= build quality.

I can make something out of metal and I bet it'll have shoddy build quality as I suck at metalworking.

This is the News Discussion forum though. While there are a few iOS users who lurk and post inflammatory material in the alternatives to iOS forum, the News Discussion section is especially bad. A lot of insecure iOS users need to put the "competition" down here for some reason.

Plastics =/= build quality.

People equating plastic to build quality seem to imply Apple had shoddy build quality on the 3GS and its line-up of Macs.

Considering they were still selling the 3GS earlier this year, does this mean that a 2012 current model iPhone had shoddy build quality ?

I never understand this "plastic is cheap!/Aluminum is the best thing!" line of thinking, especially considering all the things aluminum is used for :

What nice build quality...
