I think these turn-by-turn GPS devices are making people dumb. What is so hard about reading a map? I used to carry an atlas in truck but now I use my phone, although I wish I had an offline map app. I don't need to be told to turn, I just need to know what road I need to take.

I couldn't agree more! I bought GPX NAVIGATION & I never use it its just a program for idiots with no sense of bearing or direction. GOOGLE MAPS is all I need as well!

I have a problem with turn by turn apps. I could use a pen and paper to do a long equation, or go to a library and take out a cook book to learn to make a meal. Using technology to save time doesn't make you dumb.

I agree. For work I drive 20-30 places a day in a few different towns and to look up each address on a map would take so much time. A GPS is a must in my business and you can tell who doesn't have a GPS in my company and who does. Also with so much road construction going on, I love the "detour" button on my GPS, a big time saver. I know my way around my area and all the major roads, but to get to a certain address 2 miles off a major road, a GPS is great.
