now google can tell me what time to leave for work because i'm too dumb to figure it out by myself

What does that even mean? Searching Google for a restaurant isn't "now" but asking Google Now for it is "now?"

Google Now gives you recommendations based on your search history and habits. If you search for a lot of movies it could start telling you nearby showtimes automatically. It tells me about tech news all the time.

This ad is a refreshing break from people shouting at me.

awesome - now it not only tracks your movements all day long, but starts to get involved in your daily life.....

bit too matrix/thought police for my liking....

imaging googling for a Tim Hortons near you; and Now coming back with - "are you sure you didn't mean Starbucks as there is one near you also" (and they pay more advertising sponsorship) - really?

no thanks

I used this a few times when I had a nexus 7 and I definitely miss it on my ipad mini. Google is bringing everything to the table with their apps.

what you do is search and check in like a madman for everything. then when you're passing by some restaurant google will flash an alert telling you to go eat in there because google know what you want now

Now stop imagining and look at the real product, which doesn't work that way at all.

It actually just learns when you leave and let's you know what kind of delays are occurring at this time. It's pretty helpful on Android as it shows in my notification bar. From iPhone to Android you realize google now is way better than siri.

Anything to keep you logged in

So Google can record even more about your life, and maximize the profit they make their product - you.

Huh. Yeah, they really need to re-work those videos. I just watched them both again and I totally don't get any of this from them.

Useless in NYC since there is traffic everywhere and you are limited to one or two trains to get you where you want to go

Umm it tells you alternate ways and means of getting there. How about you try it first.

To be honest, Google Now is a flagship feature of Android... and Google are putting it on iOS. I'm not putting two and two together here, but I think Google know that iOS is winning, and are taking it very seriously. (Google Maps, excellent implementation: reviewers call it better than the Android version, YouTube app is fantastic, Google Now, well, let's see if the trend continues.)

And no, sales don't mean a platform is winning.

Google's product isn't Android, Google's product is the data it's collecting on you. What better way to get more data than to get more people participating?

Read the comment again, he is saying there are only 1 or 2 ways out of NYC. So there are no alternative ways.

Read the comment a third time, he is not trying to enter/exit the city. He says that the traffic and small amount of trains limits your possibilities inside the city. I don't live in NYC but I would assume automatic traffic analysis and routing could help you find a faster route.

OK, so I've been using Google Now on my work phone (galaxy s3) for a while.
I would LOVE this on my iPhone.

It pushes information to you without you ever thinking about requesting it. For example, book a table on OpenTable, with your gmail address.

When the day of the reservation comes, you'll get an alert that says something like "You need to leave in 15 minutes to be on time to the restaurant."

Order something online? Google Now sends you alert with the tracking info as soon as it ships (because it detects when the tracking info comes into your email).

It not so much about the card interface, it's about the data that it processes and delivers to you.

It learns where you work, and learns where you live, and learns about the time you commute.... it just works. In a borderline creepy way.

I agree for web searches etc.... But Siri main design is to control the device. ie text messages, reminders, voice control etc.... and not search for information.

Google Now is much more than web searches. Unlike Siri, it is a personal assistant that you don't have to ask it questions. It gives you Google Now cards that you might not have known you needed (like time to leave for a calendar event, etc).

You don't ask Google Now anything. That is kind of the whole point.

woww... coming to iOS. I really can't wait.

I genuinely hoping that google now would come to iOS.
