I have to agree, Google is pretty good about catering to all platforms. Just look at the technology they use to support all browsers.

It may take longer to come to mac, but Google is really good about releasing.
They're working with Sun on this one for crying out loud. Do you really thing it won't run on SunOS? If it runs on SunOS than it most likely runs on other unices such as Linux and OS X.

I don't consider these usable, at least not yet. Maybe I'm just too picky.

While I do consider KOffice clunky and StarOffice "Windows 3.1", I have found OpenOffice to be extremely nice and useable on Linux, mostly Gnome. For the mac, the new Abiword 2.4 (which is Cocoa BTW), is very nice. Infact, I prefer Abiword on mac or OOo on Linux more than MS Office on any platform... but that's just me.
And if you're talking about an office program rather just a word processor, OO is okay I guess on mac...

AWESOME!

I love google more and more every day... I swear, Google is awesome!!

I wonder how it'll run in-browser cross-platform..

I'll be able to save stuff directly into my Gmail account, too?

Google, I love you!

This is crazy...I can clearly remember when Google was nothing more than a great search engine with no crap on the search page. And hardly anyone knew about it...

Anything to scare Microsoft into potentially putting more quality into any of their products is a good thing in my book.

Where's the .NET killer to scare MS into fixing their crap IDE so I can work without getting headaches?

Lets hope the whole thing is all open source so we don't get locked into another monopoly! Cause if Google pulls it off right, MS is gonna get thier @ss handed to them on a plate, at least in the consumer space.

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but it's just an "alliance", whatever that means:

The agreement between Sun and Google also kicks off further collaboration between the companies on projects like OpenOffice.org, the open source productivity suite that is the world's leading suite on the Solaris Operating System (Solaris OS) and Linux--and the leading alternative suite on Microsoft Windows.

All is not lost though.

(Even though it's just some silly Google toolbar bundling for now).

Just wait until I am in charge of finances for Google.. THEN WE WILL SEE SOMETHING.

That'll teach people to use google!!!

//HA!

What happened to you goal of being CFO at Apple, Katie? You could certainly help us much more there. ;)

If you want to become even more paranoid, check this out.

Am I the only one who has no problem with the demise of the fourth estate?
I really liked the part where is said that it would be the death of Journalistic integrity! Like we have Journalistic integrity now! I also liked the symbol for epic, with the pi (3.1415926.......) reflected. So I guess I saw that as a kinda cheery view of the future.

Somehow I get the feeling that there's more than meets the eye from this annoucement. Its like every step Google takes out of the search engine business is leading it towards something much much larger...

Small steps.
