Those who are probably worried most are Nokia, Sony-Erricson, Microsoft and Palm.

Nokia may be losing its cachet in the high end phones, but it is taking a different strategy in that it's bringing Symbian to lower end phones like the 5530, while also working on the higher end. At the end of the day it is the lower end phones that sell in huge volumes, so I'd say Nokia is not too worried. Symbian is still a huge player in the phone market.

I love my ipod touch, but my phone of choice is a myTouch. Its a great phone and does a lot of things...its running a android OS and it seems pretty nice.

I understand what you're saying about Symbian. Nokia still has a huge share of the market with their phones. They're not going away any time soon.

I kind of see the spin-off of Symbian into it's own foundation, kind of a way to distance themselves from it. Kind of like what Palm did with their OS. Palm was then free to use Windows Mobile and the original Palm OS languished. Even more sad was that nothing became of the purchase of Be.

As far as I know, the WebOS of the Palm Pre was done by Palm and has nothing to do with PalmSource. So in a similar way, I think Nokia is free of Symbian and can use Android or WinMo, or perhaps there is something else they're working on.

Google needs to go back to the drawing board.

maybe the phone your talking about is crappy but if you've ever used GV Mobile, it's great. Jailbroken of course. In fact I've been with attbalmost 10 years and jailbrokw due to iPhone:Apple dropping it. Can't say I blame them. You get you a new phone number. You can add it to the A list on the AT&T website, then all calls from that number are free plus text/emails when someone leaves you a voice mail. Plus you can direct any phone to ring, depending on who it is calling. It's sort of like a free business plan for consumers and I bet they already have something in the works for
enterprise. You get free 411 and if someone is leaving a voicemail, you can listen in and pick up
just like thoses old machines that anwsered calls.

They are, for sure, the ine company that can get
it down. Heck, they will probably offer free business setups, press 1 for accounting, wm2 for sales and so in. So while your statement may be true, I never used one but the gv mobile softwaref rocks hands down!!!
