Since when is telling the truth a "jab"?
I was talking about the hole "pathetic response" thing. Yeah it is a cheaper jab and nothing more.

The reason it's popular is because it exposes the utter hypocrisy of all the Apple haters who flourish in these forums. Now they're pathetically trying to justify the Pixel 4 missing an important feature that they would have crucified Apple had it happened to them.

No, it's popular because it looks like some Apple fans here seem to be really concerned with everything Google does.
It's not as popular on Android forums because people read the articles and took the situation for what it is: not a big deal.
Even The Verge in their video review made a fun little joke about this.
If this was about Apple you would be here defending them and bravely fighting with those "apple haters" so I don't understand why you are so bothered by other users acting the way you would act.

BTW, why should an Apple forum be chock full of Android users in the first place? Don’t they have their own forums/clubs to talk about their devices?

From where did you get this idea? I never implied something like that.
I will say one thing, Android users on Android sites don't talk as much about ios and iPhones.
You rarely see a dedicated Apple article on Android Police for example.

A screenshot is proof? Interesting you link the screenshot but not the article it was from for any context. It's trivial to do UI mockups. It doesn't mean all the underlying code has been written to implement a toggle you see on the screen.
Yeah a screenshot is the proof that you were wrong when you implied that Google didn't even think about this setting when they designed their facial unlock system. If you have something better than can support your claim let's see it.
That screenshot was leaked before the Pixel 4 was launched, so maybe somebody had a time machine and produced that "UI mockup" but I really doubt it.

Yet Google needs “months” to bring out this feature. This proves my theory that they never worked on it other than mocking up a toggle in the UI (your screenshot). They never developed or tested the code and then decided last minute not to include it. Now they’re scrambling to add a feature they should have had from the beginning.

Or it's simply not a very high priority for them.
Objectively we don't know why they said "months" but the leaked pictured I showed does prove that your theory about them not thinking of adding such a setting or that they never worked on it is simply false.

other than mocking up a toggle in the UI

I hope you do understand that that image was leaked in September by somebody form an independent site which physically had the phone in its hands(they even made a youtube video about it) and which said the phone was running on pre-release software . I don't understand why you keep acting like there is some conspiracy behind it. If you have any plausible proof to support your claims let's see it(and I'm not talking about Google's ambiguity about when the setting will be available, that's not much at all and I already countered it with the picture I posted).

I never said anything about a conspiracy so stop putting words in my mouth I never said.

Bottom line: Google screwed up big time by not including this feature. Especially given their own history with Face Unlock and Liveness Check. And making people wait “months” is further proof they never actually coded/finished the feature.

You suggested two times that the picture I posted is some kind of a fake, so that somebody somehow mush have added that setting that according to you I didn't even exist. So yeah a conspiracy theory.

Yeah Google screwed up but they will fix it with a software update so why get worked up about it so much? Apple last year launched phones that had trouble charging with the included charger but they did fix it in the end.

So on here if Apple dont fix some software in like 5 minutes the place burns to the floor and Google are saying months for presumably what was a flagship feature ? What with this and the big S's fingerprint debacle it sure shows that writing decent software isn't as easy as the MR faithful would have you believe...

I never said it was fake. I said it could be a mockup of a UI for a planned feature. That's not the same thing.

Seems like you're the one all worked up. You have a brand-new account and literally every single post of yours has been either defending Google/Pixel/Android or criticizing Apple. At least now I understand why you took offense to comments about non-Apple users wasting their time on Apple sites. Seems I struck a little too close to home.

Exactly this.

What planned feature? According to you:

1. they didn't even think about it while working on their version of Face Unlock
2. they never worked on it other than mocking up a toggle in the UI
3. They never developed or tested the code

From that initial claim you slowly stated to contradict yourself and now you are saying it's a planned feature(in the context that the picture I posted was first shown in September) when at first you said they didn't even think about it when they were developing their facial unlock system. I wonder what will you invent next.

Seems like you're the one all worked up.

Not really, I feel quite entertained. I'm actually smiling as I write this comment.

You have a brand-new account and literally every single post of yours has been either defending Google/Pixel/Android or criticizing Apple.

I never actually criticized Apple, all I did was try to clarify some inaccuracies. I don't see what's the problem with that especially if I'm looking at you as a comparison(very hard to avoid your comments as you are here way more often than me).

At least now I understand why you took offense to comments about non-Apple users wasting their time on Apple sites. Seems I struck a little too close to home.

Well you were offensive and inappropriate when you used words like utter hypocrisy, Apple haters, pathetically trying to justify...
Why are you so aggressive? I'm not even sure it's allowed to behave like that in the comment section according to the rules of this forum.
But if this is what makes you feel better what can I say other that it speaks volumes about your character.

I, not too long ago wanted to delete Whatsapp, reason, owned by Facebook, lots of friends shrugged at what I had to say, same goes for Google, most people are not aware what Google actually does, I bet that even you and me don't know the whole story on security/privacy concerning Google or others.
Nobody knows how much data companies have on us, nobody.
I assume the over analyse every single bit of data that I have with them and monetise the absolute hell out of it

Personally I hope they put in a toggle switch so that, unlike Apple, Pixel owners will have the choice.

iPhones have a toggle for that already. But good try at trying to steer the conversation back to your usual apple bashing.

Apologies if you feel that way, and I was pleased to hear the iPhone has that option.
Trust me, whilst remarks I may have said, more in desperation, I do not hate Apple at all.
I had a lovely Blue iMac some years ago, and would love an iPhone 11 Pro Max right now.
The Watch is amazing.
Android watches are a joke.
Google keeps getting it wrong with their hardware.

Apple made a mess of keyboards, and used to be bad on the phones in many areas.
But for me they have really got their act together over the past couple of years.

My problem is, I do use a LOT of google products, contacts, maps, chrome, calendar, drive etc.
So I'd end up buying an iPhone and running Google apps, and that seems silly.

I'd like an iPhone for the hardware and iTunes store/quality, and Google to do the assistant and all the winning stuff they can do.
Such a product will never exist :(

I have been looking at an iPhone 8+ to dip my toe as a test.
Not sure how well that will run iOS13 though

and?? whats the matter?

same as my iPhone 11, tyred of it doesn't recognize me in many situations I had to deactivate "attention aware" waiting for the SE2 with touch ID to sell my iPhone 11 (iPhone 8 camera is already 2 years old so i s a no-go)

my day to day life is far more uncomfortable with Fails ID
