If Apple was truly genuine about removing the power adapter to save the environment...because people already have enough existing Apple power adapters. They would have included a cable that would work with those existing power adapters. But they did not and the cable will not work with existing Apple power adapters.

Personally I wouldn't be bothered if my Pixel didn't come with one. I wasn't bothered by no headphones in the box the last couple of years. A one off extra £20 for a 3rd party charger is nothing compared to the cost spent on devices year in, year out.

Holy cow, my phone was going CRAZY with Tapatalk notifications for this thread, and HALF are off-topic for the thread!! Side note - I HATE the way notifications for that app are handled on recent releases where EVERY SINGLE REPLY gets a card and sound, even if I haven't visited the thread since the last one. I just cleared them all, of the 25 notifications allowed for the app, 21 were for this thread!

On the Pixel 5, unless an answer to the screen gap issue is published and Google promises it's been resolved for devices shipping to the US, I think my next Fi phone (to replace my Pixel 2XL) will be a Galaxy S20+, or maybe I'll wait for the S21 series. I'm just concerned about what Fi features I might miss out on, or what Pixel features I'll miss (call screening might the big one there).

I'm amazed they haven't jumped on that screen gap story and issued a statement of sorts. Apple would do this (issuing a statement to one of their best buddies in the "independent" media), even if it was just a you're looking at it wrong kind of denial. I'm fascinated if it's by design or not, because I've seen marketing photos that clearly show a gap between display and body on the Pixel 5. Apparently the Pixel 4a has that gap too.

I wonder if Google are asleep at the wheel because they haven't officially launched it in the US yet?

It also backs up their point. I never removed the cable or adapter from my iPhone 11 Pro Max box to inspect it. I already had everything I needed.

That said, it sounds like some people have a normal tolerance of screen gap and some have an obvious defect.

This is the bit that gets me too. Not only the reduced cost in hardware but they made a point of saying how many more they can ship on a pallet which, sure is better for the environment but also better for their bottom line.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:
The UK vs US prices for the Pixel are also far more favourable than the iPhone.
Pixel 5 £599 vs $699
iPhone 12 Pro £999 vs $999

Still getting an iPhone mini.

In my opinion the 2020 smartphone release has been lackluster, maybe due to the worldwide pandemic, that unfortunately will still be here well into next year.

Pixel 5 turned into a budget phone, and no XL version. But it's still a great smartphone, and one I'll probably get once reduced in price. But would have loved to see Google go all out and build a quality flagship Pixel.

iPhone 12 line, should have had ProMotion, and the rumored ruduced smaller notch, and iPad fingerprint scanner in the power button. These three features would've made me switch from Pixel to an iPhone.

OnePlus is turning into OneSung moving more to Samsung Galaxy type and away from stock Android.

We're kinda on the same boat, I would have gotten the iphone 12 had it come with pro motion, but no 120 hz screen, only 64 gb of storage AND a price increase made me say no.

I was going to get a oneplus 8t but oneplus is losing its north lol, they are straying away from a stock like ui and they still haven't haven't updated the 7t, 7t pro, 7, 7 pro phones to android 11, that is not a good look.

Well OP is generally considered to have pretty bad cameras. I think the OP8 Pro was supposed to be better, but still not great.

I also wanted a change and I kind of got it, I was using a mi 9 before getting the pixel 5, kinda sad, that in normal usage the pixel 5 feels smoother than the mi 9, I don't care what most reviewers say, mi devices are not really optimized.

Still I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the iphone 12s pro next year after apple implements the 120 hz display on it.

Actually I checked and the oneplus 8 and 8 pro got it 12 days ago, sorry for the misinformation, the 7t, 7t pro, 7 and 7 pro haven't gotten it though, that is unacceptable to me, those are last years flagships! To me in the android world pixel is the only way to go :/

I don't have big hands, but I definitely get the toy comment. It's not as bad now, but combined with how light it is, it's a little weird.

I think they should have gone with an even bigger battery to give it a little more weight, maybe a 4500 mah battery, the phone being so light feels a bit off putting, but I get that it is a race for manufacturers to have the slimmest and lightest, phone, I mean the iphone 12 would kinda have the same weight it

Hmm sorry but prices DID go up, the sucessor of the iphone 11 is the iphone 12 and that phone is indeed more expensive than the 11 was. The iphone 12 mini is not comparable to the iphone 11

But don't forget that oxygen os doesn't look like stock android anymore, now it looks like a copy of samsung's one ui. Also the oneplus 8 pro has a curved screen with the stupid color shifting and reflections that a curved screen brings...

Without a doubt its a beast of a phone only the camera letting it down. Its not that the camera is poor, its just not as good as the competition.

If portrait shots are a big thing for you then I can see why you wouldn't want to go anything other than Pixel - it really is hard to beat in that instance.

Knowing how much you hate Samsung, I would stay well clear of OP.
Their new Oxygen OS is a total rip off of One UI rather than the stock Android experience it used to be.
