iOS needs a redesign. long overdue.
The 'Glow' theme of WWDC will be to unveil a new look UI. I'm thinking softer shadows, embossed effects & glowing highlights/animations to give more depth while still remaining flattish. That's my guess anyway...

Fantastic 😁 how’s fragmentation, bloatware, no hardware support working out for you?
Pixel 5, I have none of those issues champ, and I doubt Siri is "Fantastic"

EXAMPLE

Hey Siri, call mom

Siri: Playing in da club by 50 Cent

On Android:

Hey Google, make me feel good

Google Assistant, Ill be right over sir to rub your shoulders and make you a sandwich

😂

This is a major upgrade, IMO. I develop on both Android and iOS. My current phone is a Pixel 3 and I still really miss my iPhone. Android 11 looks and feels about 6 years old, and 12 finally makes Android look modern comparatively. Now if it were only as fun to develop on Android as on iOS....

Bruh, I got an iPad Pro (with pencil) that I never use. My phone does more than a tablet.

As far as a watch I have Fitbit (batter life 6 days), you can't say the same champ

Fitbit 😂 only good for one thing.

A iPad that you never use, yet you still bought it lol.

Looks good, time for Apple to step up the game when it comes to customizing iOS. I cant even put my icons exactly where I want and iOS widgets are borderline useless. Should have just called them what they are, live icons.

Been waiting to put my icons anywhere I wanted on screen since my... iphone 4. More than 10 years later and i'm still waiting. Because apple knows best where my icons should go

I'm talking about 1st party apps/software, not 3rd party.

Google's apps are so much better than Apple's. Look at the Mail app for god sake, literally zero functionality yet Apple dares to make it the default app that the iPhone ships with lmao. The Home app looks like a complete mess, which explains why apple's falling behind on smart home. Other apps haven't even been updated at all, like Weather, or Stocks. This is embarrassing for a huge company like Apple. And of course, who even likes Siri?
I like Siri. I feel that mail is more streamlined than Gmail. I use the home app often, and it isn’t a total mess.

I find the new theming system in Android 12 to be very interesting. I also like the fact that you can disable the camera and microphone for all apps in the Quick Settings. The precise/approximate location is a welcome addition done to put it closer to iOS 14's options. Finally, the new Material New design seems to be a breath of fresh air compared to older Android and current iOS versions. I find the direction the design team is going to to be particular.

Not mentioned in the article is a "privacy timeline" that allows you to see when apps used the microphone, camera and location. I find the lack of this feature on iOS to be a missed opportunity.

Say what you want about Android, iOS is way ahead in privacy and security.
Android takes ages to get privacy updates, they had a year to camera and mic usage indicators but couldn't figure out a way for ATT equivalent on Android.

How is Siri, iCloud, Apple Maps or customization working out for you theses days champ

Great actually.

Apple maps is accurate enough to get me to where I want to go.

I am using the Siri watch face on my Apple Watch, which means I get to both view my calendar and access Siri from my wrist. It’s great being able to just go “what’s 70% of $59” without having to fish out my phone, for instance.

iCloud is iCloud and I use it for a variety of situations. Not sure what there is to be said about it.

And the best part is that I still get to mix and match them with Google’s services if I so desire.

There’s a certain irony here when it comes to choice.

......an approach that "celebrates the tension between design sensibility and personal preference, and does not shy away from emotion."............What in the world is that supposed to mean??? Is that Bay Area jargon for "I don't know what the heck this does?"...
