I'm not understanding how an ad, based on a search you did in a browser that apparently you took no precautions on protecting your data, you find "creepy and gross and invasive". Use a different (free) search engine or take other steps to block tracking.

You can actually use different DNS servers to block ad servers that will work on all apps whether they are browsers or not.
Some ppl simply don’t want to use google product and that’s fair bc google is invasive and creepy and aggressive with how they collect data.

I don’t support google except using YouTube and that one gmail account connected to them.

Pass. I am trying to degoogle my life. I cannot accept their business model of selling my data.
Getting rid of Chrome was easy. Currently trying to get rid of Gmail.
What specifically do you need gmail for.

Me it’s only basic emailing so it was easy to switch to outlook lol. I only have the one gmail for access to YouTube.

It doesn't even have to be backwards or violent - Gemini wouldn't even tell me when the US election was when I asked about a month ago.
I'm not saying Gemini is good, I think all the AIs are garbage, but the person I quoted went out of their way to use euphemisms so I want them to say what they mean.

People are very lonely these days. Things are not OK, and everyone is feeling it. We’ve developed systems that isolate us from intangibles that sustain us emotionally. Instead of trying to restore those ways of living, though, we’re being sold more technology to fill spaces that technology cannot fill. It’s a process that has been going on for a long time, and it’s going to be hard to stop.
Agreed…

But why does it ask the user to go die?

Being in Europe I'm happy with this app, and with the freedom of choice. No LLM is perfect so being able to choose is excellent. Imagine Apple AI s#cking big time, which it will if it's as good as Siri, then it's great not being forced to stick to that junk.
Big tech in US will never be regulated as such in the EU which is unfortunate. Big Tech control and profits seem to outweigh consumer’s rights to privacy and choices. And, we think we’re free 🤷‍♂️

Couldn't care less since I switched to iPhone to unGoogle. Also unZuck, and now unMusk.
I’m in the “un” state myself. However, if you’re like me there will be times you’ll probably want to unTim, but will be trapped in Tim’s walled garden of Apple. I would like to unTech (to some degree) so people would actually have to start thinking again. Technology is useful until it’s become bad.

Nice. Who doesn’t want to give all of his data to Google ? I’m using an iPhone mainly because I wants to stand clear of Google, the only ecosystem where the product is… you

Aka we are now ready to store even more of your data on our servers.
Exactly.
And google doesn’t restrict it by your iphone model.
Sure. You are more than welcome to give all of your data to their servers. Profiling you is their core business

This.
I don't know the average age of a commentator on this forum, however, I'm gonna take a guess and say I am the oldest. I have no problem giving my information talking to an AI. For me, this is something I've been waiting for since I was reading sci-fi back in the 50s… the real "future" it's gonna be a blast. It's going to be a nightmare, it's going to be enjoyable. The idea that I can talk with the information of the world, have have wide-ranging deep and philosophical conversations with an AI, I mean seriously open my pod bay doors
I have no problem talking with an AI, within limits. I have several problems to give Google my data

Did it occur to you that not using google services at all is one way I’m “taking precautions”? That was my entire point.
No, my mind reading is a little rusty these days. So you complained about something that apparently doesn't affect you then?

Hypocrisy at it's finest. I didn't realize that YT and Gmail didn't collect data...

Not hypocritical at all. I think you need to read the post again.
I never said YouTube nor gmail don’t collect data.

I ONLY use YouTube and gmail. Meaning even though I despise google those are the two products I use.

YouTube sadly has no equivalent and most of my true crime podcasts are on YouTube. I need a gmail account to interact on YouTube.

My experience is that ChatGPT is most helpful and gives the best answer, then coopilot, Claude and then far behind is Gemini.
