probably would sell only 13,500 in 1st 70 days (it was 135,000 for nexus one) and most of them would probably go to YouTube Partners to do shameless advertising LOL!

Apple should pull the trigger and release the iSearch

It is coming. iAd and then iSearch for Windows and it will be built-in to the Mac OS X 10.7. Watch and learn.

I think it is great for both companies. Keep them both on their toes!
:)

if it's just a big Nexus One (same screen type, minus the trackball thing) and its the same size as the iPad, I'll definitely be in line. They would need to put the SD card slot on the outside but I gotta say, I LOVE my Nexus One. I prefer the Android path simply because I don't like the "walled garden" of the iPhone/iPad application store - if I want to put an application that show a picture of boobies that jiggle when I wiggle my phone, then dammit I should be able to do that easily and Apple shouldn't be playing "parent" about it.

Competition makes everyone better!

But, I have even less interest in an Android based tablet than I do in an iPhone OS one. Dear Google, do what Apple won't and make me a one pound tablet running Chrome OS. That would be a laptop replacement!

If Hulu is still using Flash by the time this device is released.

It's more likely that comcast (who bought NBC, who owns Hulu) will simply shut hulu down or go to a pay service. They don't want you watching TV for free over their internet pipes.

So many comments to reply to...

No Apps for Chrome OS yet lol.

Chrome OS has "web Apps" and will fully incorporate HTML5 to make these appear more traditional.

Android = Fail

Sorry g00gle.

The exponential growth of Android appears to be at odds with the above statement. Have you used it?
I think Apple has some serious competition. The new microsoft KIN women phones actually look pretty damn cool and makes both the new OS4 and Android OS look old.
Check them out here.

Agreed.

I have no interest in an Android tablet.

A ChromeOS tablet in the $99-$149 range, on the other hand...

Google copying Apple. Why is this news?

It'd be refreshing to see Google actually doing something other people aren't doing. I guess that would be sooo 2004.

Apple DID not invent or innovate on tables, we had table for about 10 years now and the OS is part of the original project (iPhone), Amazon was the real innovator (even when they didn't do it right and didn't take advantage of the starting position).

Android = Fail

Sorry g00gle.

I dont see how you can say that, I switched from the iPhone to an Android based phone and love it..

Sure it not filled with eye candy like the iPhone, but feature wise it's way more robust and better. Apple is still playing catchup even with OS 4. And you cannot deny that..

And dont look at devices just by the brand!! People who only pick an OS or product based entirely on the manufacture piss me off. Look at the devices for what fills the task at hand best. every device has it's strengths and weaknesses.

I look forward to seeing more information about a Google tablet.

I love how you can use buzz words that everyone who wants to say something bad about the iphone does.

I find it funny how many of us are Google-bashing right now and half the advertisements on this site seem to be from Google... heh

yep Im almost ready to stop reading any news on anything from both parties (almost impossible) till 2014. Maybe then something will be different.

Lol, i love when it says that these companies 'were waiting to see what Apple does' with its device.
well it shows what innovation these companies have and how subpar their devices will be.

honestly what type of intuitiveness, interaction and concept have they designed from the ground up that connects with its user as much as apple has.
now dont get me wrong about fanboyism; but apple creates things that make sense and are intuitive to users while others copy to make a buck & ride the coatails. (good artists copy, great artists steal? well theyre certainly not great).

Screw Android tablets. The existing ones look like they just took Android and stretched the UI without adding any extra benefits. And lets be realistic, the Android applications suck in both usability and quality compared to the iPhone equivalents. Android is good on paper, but it is clunky and really just overrated. And I own a Nexus One, so that says something coming from a person who spent $550 on a phone.

you signature says even more than that. You bought a Nexus One, an iPhone 3GS and an iPod Touch? Maybe you should start donating more money to charity instead of filling your life with redundant gizmos that you flaunt on the internet?

Coming from the guy with a Mac pro and MBP?

rant that I would really love to hear some responses to

God, the fanboyism at MacRumors is terrible. This is worse than that time when a whole bunch of people here seriously thought Apple could have sold 700,000 iPads on day one, then I explain the math, and how it's virtually impossible to push those kind of numbers, and you flat out deny them.

Google's tablet will most likely have better specs, and probably be cheaper. It will have multitasking at launch, as well as flash (so you can have a non-subscription version of Hulu or play Farmville), as well as a SD slot and more. It will be a lot most customizable too. Sure it might not be a big success, but it will among power tech users it will be deemed better than the iPad.

You laugh at the Nexus One and deem it a failure, but forget that it had no advertising on TV and was not available in stores, if you consider those factors, it did very well.

Seriously, you should all be looking forward to this tablet, and hope Google advertises, because the iPad needs the competition, badly.

Then someone here is makes some bad analogy about buying the most original car is the best idea, not the best car. Seriously, wtf does that even mean, you buy the best car. Just because the iPhone pushes more units than any other phone doesn't mean it's the best by far. That'd be like saying Vista is better than OS X because way more computers on Vista were sold...

Seriously, I just can't get over the fanboyism here, it's worse than it is at Engadget. And it's not just about the iPad, you guys all praise iPhone OS as well, it's the 4th time around and they still can't get it right, it's just unacceptable...

Unable to have different vibration settings for different types of messages.

You can't tag, date or even alphabetize any notes you take with the notes app... Seriously, what's the point...?

You also can't tag photos in the photo app...

You can't delete one call entry at a time in your recent call log

You can't display contact pics added via Address Book in full screen, during an incoming call

You can't comment on youtube videos within the youtube app
NO DYNAMIC ICONS... How the **** do you have a weather app that isn't dynamic (BTW, that weather app hasn't changed since iPhone OS 1.0). And the clock app doesn't say the real time... how do you mess that up

You can't pick a song as an alarm tone.

And they still can't get notifications right.

Apple has been slipping lately. They better get their head back in the game.
