I've owned and loved a lot of Apple products since ~2010. They work beautifully if you don't want any burden of choice.
They work beautifully when you don’t want to settle for subpar hardware, having to make sure you choose the right OEM for updates, if you go with this OEM are you sacrificing this feature to have that feature, not having to disable this setting, etc.

I can simply use my phone and enjoy it. Most day to day consumers don’t care about 1/10 of what android claims to do well.

It’s going to be so funny if you can’t disable it & it’s baked into iMessage because of the new legislation from china
It’s funny to me you seem to take issues with me disabling a feature in my phone I paid for lol.

Again this is a benefit for android users. Not for me.

You’ll be okay.

It likely will be able to be turned off since sms is a fall back (and you can turn off RCS on android). You almost had me there mate 🫡 lol

I don't know everything about them, but I know what kind of phone they use. Blue vs green. Easy to see.
No it ain't.
Until just now, not a single person I know is aware I have an Android as well as an iPhone. I don't shout about it but I have them for different things.

How do you not see that you only stand to benefit?

Completely transparently to you, your SMS conversation now has nice features like delivery receipts. You can now send and receive higher-resolution media. Group chats are no longer as buggy.

All of this, with no friction on your part. You don't have to push any buttons, click any links, turn any dials. Apple would (presumably) make it just work.

And yet, you would go out of your way to disable these features for you and any Android user that has the pleasure of contacting you via SMS?

This is also about your convenience, not only someone else's. Communication usually goes both ways.

They already do via SMS/email/phone#.
I fail to see how this is going to be worse.
Instead of a text message you can get full 4k Video, Audio, and Long messages. They get a delivery receipt to see the number is legit.

Don't get me started on now we can get campaign commercials sent directly to our phones. Not everyone has unlimited data on mobile.

1. Idc about read receipts because most ppl turn them off anyway.

2. I’ve sent high res stuff in snap, messenger etc.

3. Group chats are annoying with iPhones lol.

I have not had any issues talking to any lagdroid users because if sms doesn’t work at least a 3rd party does.

So no benefit. I’m turning it off and encouraging my friends to.

Much like iMessage on android or beeper this benefit android users more than iOS so they can stop feeling 2nd class

Why would I turn sms off. I don’t mind using it. I don’t want or need SMS. We are talking about RCS. Which can be disabled in lagdroid.

Fun fact. They claim apple locks you into iMessage but google locks you into google messages since RCS is not available through their 3rd party messaging apps.

How interesting

I’m well aware when my bf is using his iPhone and when he is messaging on his computer based on the color.

I like knowing that

So...you prefer to make someone feel "second class"?

Sure, but I can buy a Samsung or a "Nokia" or OnePlus or whatever noname brand and use Google Messages on it. I can take my service to the hardware I want to use except to iPhone. Can't do that with iMessage.

This reminds me of when Instagram was announced to be coming to Android back in the stone age. So many angsty teens up in arms that their little club was expanding.

Then how come I am not seeing this on Android today? I’m not.

But I can set my default messenger in Android and it doesn’t have to be Google Messenger with RCS.
Can’t do that in iOS.

Has anyone ever complained about this? I don't see Galaxy owners complaining bout getting spam messages through RCS.

If you feel second class that’s on you. I’m not making anyone feel like anything mate.

See. You and android users care. That is surreal.

It probably has everything to do with android cameras being terrible when instagram came out. Heck android pics on Snapchat still look terrible so i don’t blame ppl for not wanting low quality images.

No you can’t. RCS is not available in 3rd party apps. Only google messages.

iOS doesn’t need to have a default messaging app. You can choose to use messages or not.

If I want to send a pic in messenger I can. You don’t have to use iMessage or messages.

Yes I can. I can set any app as the default messaging app as long as it handles SMS. RCS is not currently required. There are quite a few options.

btw - Samsung Messages also contains RCS.

Personally, I still think incoming RCS messages in the Messages app in iOS 18 should be in its own distinct color. Hence my suggestion of a orange-colored bubble for incoming RCS message text, green for standard SMS text and blue for iMessage text.

What does that even mean lol.

I don’t care who he messages. Get real please.

When he is texting me from the computer it is green so I know not to call him because he is likely in class or work.

I like knowing who I can instantly share a song with or my location or Apple Pay.

So it is more than just a color.

It has one though. It's called Messages, comes preinstalled on every iPhone, and is the thing you have been bizarrely protective of.

Honestly, it's great that the dysfunctional message experience works for you. I don't get why you'd encourage others you know to give up features they might use.

I worry that Orange would be too low contrast against white text. Teal would look really good. Good contrast with white text, and still green enough to enable android discrimination for the folk into that. Different enough from the Radioactive SMS green.

That's fine. It was more a response to that ludicrous claim people make that aeverybody they know doesn't use Android.

You don’t have to use messages or sms. My roommate exclusively uses messenger to chat. Idk his phone number.

Very easy if you choose not to use messages.

It’s not dysfunctional at all. It functions well. Seeing as most of the world doesn’t use messages regularly. They use apps.

My people likely won’t have a need for RCS. Again RCS only benefits android users.

I know 5 ppl who use android. Thankfully I don’t text most of these ppl and if I do I use messenger.

1. My mom though she is fi ally switching because her pixel sucks

2. My godson who is 12 but I’m buying him an iPhone for his bday because he deserves better than using the android he is using and I want him on iPhone. I think he is using a galaxy s20 from his dad

3. My coworker who barely uses his phone

4. My best friend who has a burner android phone for his extracurricular stuff.

5. My grandfather who literally got a free cheap government phone.

My Inner circle only uses iPhone thank goodness. My bf was the hardest to get to switch as he was a lagdroid fan but even he appreciates his phone working as it should.

Samsung messages RCS is carrier specific. It does not use google method. It uses carrier based RCS. Meaning if the carrier does not support it then you don’t have RCS.

Much like android itself, RCS is fragmented. Some phones have it. Some don’t. Some use googles method. Some don’t. Which leads to incompatibility and unreliability. Which will be hilarious when apple uses RCS.

Samsung messages is not even pushed by Samsung. Samsung has installed by default and pushed GOOGLE MESSAGES in its newer devices for this very reason.

And Actually as I said RCS is not available to third party apps. If I use Apia like chompsms or pulse then there is no RCS.

RCS capabilities are in Android (asop) but google has yet to release Api to be used.

Which makes them just as bad as apple with iMessage. Worse because iMessage has been apple only. Google only allows it for google messages meaning 3rd party apps don’t have access. Simply because google makes money off your Data

Because they want everyone to use google messages & they got Samsung to use it as well and it’s why major carriers are starting to use RCS as well.
There is a reason google want you to use their messaging app as the default one because they are the makers of android.

So you just made the sane argument as why apple Doesn’t want to make iMessage for android and why these lawsuits are ridiculous.

Thank you.

It’s even worse because lagdroid is praised for being open yet google is purposely not allowing 3rd party apps to use RCS.

Hypocrisy on google since are favoring their own apps on their platform which they profit off of.

I refuse to use google messages on android. But if I want RCS I have to use it. This is why I laugh at android fans because they are ok with double standards as long as it isn’t the trillion dollar apple doing it.
