This is actually a real shame. Google+ has been instrumental in our website SEO for the Google search engine and not many people are aware of this.

Thing is, it’s hard to completely remove Google from your life. Their search engine still has significant utility for most people and as such I have to use GoogleAds. Still prefer it to other search engines, and I’ve tried a few. Hate their Privacy antics though.
DuckDuckGo with bangs - !g followed by your search term gives you an encrypted, anonymous Google search if you don't like DDG's results. VERY useful !w for wikipedia and loads of others.

I am so glad I switched back to iOS - Google was becoming more and more of a concern for me. To me, Google is 100x worse than Microsoft ever was. I wish someone would come along to decimate their influence. All of Google's areas of influence are sad places: YouTube (and the never-ending ways they undercut content providers), Google Search (which screams at me for not using Chrome when I use Edge), Gmail, and Android.

Their hardware is somehow even worse.

I hope the EU has a field day with them and starts to knock them down a few pegs. The United States sure won't.
This bit enrages me, this is the one essential Google service for me besides gmail.

It's not a good business model to be giving data away for free when you're also selling it. Whoops Google.

The thing I find annoying is that google+ while not great is at least better than facebook in many ways. I see facebook as a way locking in and leaving behind the ugly dregs of society, the people who can't even have a conversation without emoji and lol every two seconds. The biggest problem with tech is not that everyone should have access to it, it's the everyone has access to it! The reason we hear about flat earth and far out extreme politics is because we've allowed the mentally deficient to get online and those out-there beliefs that would usually never be heard are screamed from the digital roof tops. There has to be a way of quelling the crazy but I think it's happening naturally anyway with banning of infowars etc. Sorry to go slightly off topic but social media is broken right now and Google revealing such a large bug is a symptom I think.

Well, there seems to be very limited outrage on the data leakage. Granted this was one of those things no one cared about... still some anger would not be misplaced.

I guess it's just natural to read of this news and slip on to the tangent of what the heck was google+ supposed to be anyways.

If you had a YouTube or Google account, a Google+ account was created for you automatically. No need to “sign up” for one.

How considerate of them. Going out of their way to make it more efficient and easier for them to gather even more data from us.

Google Wave..... Google Duo/Allo.... Google Inbox.... Google+ ..... Google------?

With all those gazillion Google apps and add-ons, comes more ways for them to infiltrate our privacy.

They fired Vic Gundotra long (or he has left on his own) and Google+ was out of focus and sort of dead project long back....Goog Gohas come out of such issues long back with stronger security measures.

Google Photos is great - and supports HEIC format images, which the iOS OneDrive app doesn’t)
The iOS OneDrive app has supported HEIC for a while now.

To be fair, various features, designs, etc. from those products have been used In other ones, while they might not have been if those things weren't tried out and tweaked to one degree or another first in those products that ended up getting discontinued.

Google is in bigger trouble than most of you can imagine.

A select few roaming these boards might have an idea of what I'm talking about.

Expect some interesting news about them soon.
