Google Sync vs. Nuevasync

If you use google sync through the exchange server. Can you not obtain emails from a gmail account? I literally have to add another account for mine and have that as gmail only. Am I missing something or does google synce only sync contacts and calenders even though it says mail as one of the options to choose in the iphone?

It supports mail but Google has yet to turn Push Gmail on for any other device besides Android. So only Contacts & Calendar

Anynews on when they will turn it on for other phones? Also if I have mail on even though it's not getting me anything is it using up battery life by looking for something that isn't there? Same question goes for the contacts and calender. I mean really I only need to sync my contacts once in a while. Does having that on drain battery. Should I just have it on whenever I want to sync my contacts and calender or is it fine just leaving it on? Hopefully this made sense. Thanks

Mail might drain since it'll keep querying the server. Contacts/Calendar should be fine
