Besides a smartwatch would offer me tangible benefits such as not having to pull my phone out of my pocket when I'm doing 80mph on the highway.
Yeah, 'cause reading your notifications on a tiny screen while driving will be so much better.
Makes me think about all this CarPlay thing.

You know what else can do that. Self control :)

What, you guys really cannot glance quickly at a watch which is already almost in front of your face? Really? Don't you ever quickly glance at your radio, your gps, glance to your blindspots, rear view mirror, etc etc? Man, I'd hate to be on the road with you guys.

Missed my point. It's cool.

p.s. When I drive - I typically have a dashboard in front of me - it will have a clock. I don't need to take my phone out. Nor do I need to look at my watch. There's a difference between looking at a watch and glancing at something already in front of you (radio, etc).

And re: Radio - I can do that by touch - I don't need to look ;)

I didn't knew that Glass was cancelled, can you give us more information about that cancellation?

Glass is pretty much dead in the water. Do you seriously think it will ever see the light of day considering all the privacy issues and driving issues? Google's just getting as much as they can from the suckers before they close up shop like they did Google Reader.

Really? You forgot to add that this was just your opinion. Also how much did Google charge for reader? How much did they get from "suckers" before they killed it off? Zero I guess. And lastly don't just single Google out for killing off things like reader - Lot's of companies do it (including Apple).

Now I don't know how successful Google or Apple or anyone else will be with wearable tech but I'm glad to see them trying and interested in how it all turns out. Fun times.

Ah, so just wishful thinking

No I got your point, it's all good, I was just making a little fun ;). But I do stand behind my point, you glance at things in your car off the road almost constantly, to single out glancing at your watch is really really nit picking. Just because you don't need access to information doesn't mean others don't, in fact seeing how much of an epidemic people using phones in cars is I'd say the opposite is closer to the truth. To offer something that relieves that danger would be great IMO. Yeah yeah I know, you drive with your hands at 3 and 9 and your eyes are glued straight ahead 100% of the time so this wouldn't apply to you. Others aren't so lucky in having long commutes and needing information while commuting which helps them run businesses, run their families, get apprised of emergencies, etc.

Nope, pretty much fact. If you think Google Glass has any chance of seeing mass appeal, you're delirious. People are already rejecting it and it's not even out due to the fact that looking like an creepy idiot isn't really something people like to do.

It's crazy to see so many brands put out products in a never before thought of market segment solely based on the rumor that Apple is planning on creating a product in that market...

Always one who makes the usual everyone copying an Apple rumour comment to get his up votes....

Except that Google has been in development of Google Glass before the iWatch was even rumored. So perhaps it is Apple following the leader again. The iWatch hasn't even been unveiled so how can Google be reacting to something that doesn't even exist and wasn't even rumored at the time they created their product? I'm sure the fanboys though will try to rewrite history again like usual.

Yeap, them goalposts mate are now in another dimension the fans on here have moved them so far.

We will 'selectively' totally forget the wearable smart watches that have existed before, we'll totally ignore the fact the Pebble team had a smartwatch on the market for Blackberry devices in 2012. Or the I'm Watch that was announced in early 2012 and so on.........

What these people ALL did, was invent time machines, they copied Apple's 'Time Capsule' technology, thus they had already stolen Apple technology to travel into the future, check out the 'rumours' of as yet unseen and un-confirmed Apple products, then travelled back to their own times whereby they dutifully made their own versions of what Apple was 'rumoured' to be making in the future...

Damn those thieves....

Next they will say microsoft copied apple in making a tablet..... I like apple products and this website is good to get info early about apple products but some of the posts on here are cringe worthy, do they REALLY think like that? rant over/ laters :)

So wait...!! What you are saying here is that, when and if Apple does release the iWatch or whatever they may call it, on which am sure they been working for quite few years, it has to be a copy of ..... let's say one of these many Galaxy Gear stuff that Samsung has been working on the last few months?? Yeah man, that has to be it

Apple doesn't just create a new hardware product overnight!!! It works on it for years before you even see it (but that does not stop people from hearing about it). For every single new product that Apple have brought on the last decade, rumors have existed long before you have seen it. And to me and you this iWatch thing may be just a rumor but for big tech companies out there who are in the game is just as real as the air you breath!! I believe you are naive if you think Apple competitors like Samsung have no idea what Apple is working on and react to it accordingly.

So what you are saying is Apple are crap then, useless and have NO idea what they are doing, because apparently it takes them 'years' to make one product, yet according to some on here, everyone else can make the exact same product in less than 1 year...... and we all know from proof and facts that Apple does not make perfectly reliable products for those apparent years it takes over everyone else.

The wearables if done right will be a new platform. Your phone or tablet can't measure your heartrate, blood pressure or glucose levels. If they approach this from the health angle it'll be a totally new platform. If they do what Samsung did with Gear, it'll be a new form factor only.

Even if it was linear, it'd take several years for Google to overtake Apple's market cap. And it's never linear.

If it makes you feel any better, GOOG is down to $405b atm :)

You think google invented glass http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaF8sCNtL-0

I think there will always be people like this with any technology. I'm sure years ago there was a caveman saying "Fire is a waste of time. A stupid fad."

Wearable technology has been around for more than a decade and still hasn't seen mainstream adoption.

Good comparison!! the survival of humanity V a new iToy.

The more I think about an iWatch the less I want one. I just don't see what it would do for me. Now if I was buck Rodgers or a child again I'd be all over it Flash Gordon style but now as a grown man I just don't feel one on my wrist. Of course this is where apple work their magic and show me what i haven't thought of cause at the moment I feel it'll be an intrusion and annoyance I don't want, bit like having 3 kids hanging off your arm all wanting something.
