Pixel 8 Pro had the best display on the market last year, I expect the same this year.

Pixel 9, 9 pro and 9 pro XL will all have 120hz displays, something Apple WONT offer.

Gemini AI on all models as usual, 16GB RAM because you need at least 8GB so ignore apples BS lies.

And no apple intelligence is not releasing this year, it's July and not a peep of beta yet.

I'll be getting the 6.3" Pixel 9 Pro, had every single iPhone since the OG but they've lost their way with greed.

Had a Pixel 6, 7, 8 for work stuff and never had any issues and loved the quality you get for the price but ready to go PRO now they're releasing a smaller pro.

Circle to search, magic eraser, summaries and smart replies are just so useful to me.

Here's a crop of a non-zoomed photo it took in daylight. Utter and total garbage.

Oh nooo, I feel so bad for these poor animals, cannot imagine how bad it must feel to be photographed with a Pixel, can almost feel their pain thru this oil painting. And people all around on the web actually say this is the best camera ever! "Compuhtationan fotographie!!11". I wonder why do devs at Google think people like excessive noise reduction and oversharpening

My wife is a long-time Android user and she won't even consider a phone other than the Pixel.
Same for mine. Ever since the OG Pixel she's been sold on them. She's going to be trading her 6 Pro for 9 Pro as soon as they're available. I switched from Pixel to my current Z Flip4, and I've REALLY missed the camera experience of the Pixel, so I'll be giving the 9 series a close look.

"...the iPhone 16 and Apple Watch Series 9 are expected to be revealed alongside iOS 18 with Apple Intelligence."

I was under the impression Apple would be announcing Watch Series X in September? Isn't the 9 the current version?
Apple Watch 9 and X are exactly the same with different names. ;)

Bought a Pixel 7 pro as a second device last year and used it only for few days. I had to take it several times to the shop as the battery had issues. Two times the service centre returned it saying no issues. Then I had to write down my findings and screenshots to backup, argued with the employees in the shop and service centre, to make them look into the issues properly. Then they replaced with a new one.
I gave it to my son and bought a Sony instead. I wanted Pixel because they get new versions of Android from day 1 across all models, compared to the Samsung which could take anywhere from 2 months to infinity (and beyond).

competition is scared. good. they should be.
I'll take the opposing view that Apple's AI solutions at WWDC seemed tacked on whereas Google should be coming forward with a more intriguing software approach to their phone so they're trying to get out in front. Considering the leak prone Google, I'm surprised we don't have all the details yet. I'll agree that competition is good.

Pixel has best camera and app integration so if that's your primary objective, Pixel is the right move.

Besides that, Samsung has Pixel's beat in terms of hardware quality, app extras, performance, etc. They are also doing a better job with updates lately too. I ran a Pixel 8 Pro side-by-side with S23+ and found the former choppy/laggy at times with less than optimal mobile and wifi signal strength. Now running a 24+ which is another set of steps ahead of Pixel performance.

The Tensor chip remains a marketing-hyped lackluster yawner platform (glorified Exynos chip). Ironically, Samsung still uses Snapdragon "SD3" on all S24 Ultra and US model 24+ and 24's. They use newer "non-Tensor" Exynos on international S24+ and S24 models and while performance has improved, still not to the same level as Snapdragon.

Tensor is not on my radar screen until they start making TSMC ones in Pixel 10 and beyond. I generally never purchase a 1st gen processor platform so probably won't consider Pixel until 11 comes out.
Camera is definitely important to me.

Not convinced at all on the Samsung hardware quality, they just feel "designed" rather than anything intended to functional or comfortable to hold. Material quality is questionable too, I don't think Samsung represents anything close to good value there. Pixel was far more comfortable, and felt a lot more premium despite being cheaper.

Using the Pixel I played with was fast to respond and buttery smooth almost all the time, but I felt the Samsung just slow to respond to inputs (like key presses), with rough and choppy system animations. Maybe the retail display models are loaded with crapware.

Since day one they said the beta for Apple Intelligence would be in the fall.

Yeah it's awful. They are blind, stupid or both!

They could do so much better without the damn processing.

I might try one of those this year. I am bored of iPhone (had most since iPhone 3G) and I will still have my 15 Plus for the Apple Ecosystem needs.
I’m thinking the same. Worst part of iPhone is Siri or should I say Siri’s inability to function properly 75% of tihe time. Apple's ecosystem is a masterclass in subtle manipulation, locking users into its gilded cage.
But, as you stated I can always keep my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Most iPhone updates have been incremental or gimmicky, like the addition of the action button.
I use Apple hardware with Google services, so I’m excited to see the new pixel lineup. It was a brilliant move on Google’s behalf to introduce the new pixel lineup prior to Apple introducing the iPhone 16.

Would not surprise me that crapware was present. I nuke all extraneous garbage on all Android phones via ADB script.

I had Pixel 8 Pro for 3+ weeks and set it up identical to the S23+ (with Nova launcher on both) so it was as close to apples-to-apples comparison between the two platforms.

I'm no fan of the bulky and pointy cornered Ultra's they are just too big imo

The Pixel 8 Pro and S23+/S24+ are essentially the same size.

The S24+ display is the same QHD+ resolution as Ultra and also 2,600 nits peak brightness (S23+ was lower resolution and 1,750 nits peak brightness).

This photo looks like it is digital zoomed into oblivion. The Pixel 7a doesn't have a telephoto lens.

I live in a major US research and tech hub, one of the largest outside of Silicon Valley, and I believe I've only seen a Google Pixel "out in the wild" maybe once or twice. It's not a very common sighting.

The vast majority of phones I see are either iPhones or the occasional Samsung. I wonder who's buying Pixel Phones, because I'm not seeing them...

The smartphone market in the U.S. is largely dominated by Apple (especially) and Samsung. I believe Google Pixel only has around 4.5% to 5.0% market share here.

It seems like the Pixel provides the greatest Android experience, it's surprising (and unfortunate) they don't have a larger market share. Also, has anyone noticed all of complaints about Apple's designs? Most of the top tier phones largely follow Apple design language—except for their superior camera implementation. I am curious what people expect from a slab of glass and aluminum/plastic. I always find it funny there is a zero sum game between the two. Is it still necessary to convince someone one is better than the other? Just get the phone/operating system you like the most.
