Sorry, it got a bit out of context. I already appreciate the benefits of Siri and the like. Originally was asking what study showed that Google Now is so much better than competitors. Really don't want to continue because it is now off topic.

Hardly off topic https://www.macrumors.com/
scroll to topic in bold Google Assistant

As previouly stated video gives answer. It quotes Google's % accuracy - 100% being human speech.

So typical of Google, they've always been lame. Android is a blatant & crappy rip-off of iOS thanks to whats his face who dipped off Apple's board before the iPhone came out, and now they've come full circle ripping off the hardware design too. (and poorly done might I add) Hell, Samsung's attempts at ripping off Apple are almost better..

The hardware in this phone is not bad and I quite like the simplified software. However the looks of this thing and the design choice for the placement of components is another prime example of th cheap approach Google takes to hardware.

Why anyone would want to store all their photos with google is beyond me...

The worst damn thing about all this is Nest is a great thermostat but Google doesn't seem interested in working with HomeKit. Ugh. I knew this going in and it's fine, but dammit I'm not buying all that other crap, Googs. So just give in and make it HomeKit-compatible!

What I find hard to grasp is this:

How come pretty much every single person on the entire planet earth can understand these phones (lovely in many ways from their camera/speed/assistant integration etc etc) are overpriced.

Apart from Google Management/team?

This is EXACTLY another Nexus 9 Tablet moment.
That was a great tablet at the time, fast, great screen, but they places it smack on iPad Price Point, so a normal customer goes into a store, looks at their cash, and thinks:

"Well, if I'm paying this much I may as well get an iPad"

Why wouldn't they? I'm in interested in your reasoning!
Google data mine photos as well as e-mail, crossing the boundaries of privacy.

As far as the phones go: meh. Bland, look as dated as the current iPhone range. Where Google is running circles around Apple is AI, however, and that's where the future lies. Apple should be seriously worried that they don't have a decent Google Now (or whatever it's called now) competitor. They can't even tackle the Echo at the moment. Phones have reached peak, so that's not an area where Apple will be able to grow in the next few years.

Bloomin' heck they include a cable called "Quick switch adaptor" in the box for iPhone switchers and its a simple '3 step procedure' Google are really going after apple. I imagine the apple board saying the cable is a step too far.

Yep they style the Phone & Website like the iPhone in the hope of capturing business from people who don't really know the difference but think it looks the same. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Innovation !!!!

Homekit is a bit of a joke at the moment, to be honest. I've invested a bit in homekit-compatible hardware. The hardware itself works ok (except for the Elgato EVE range), but the Echo works drastically better to control them than Siri.

At that price....

No OIS
No waterproofing
No stereo speakers
No wireless charging
No dual lens cameras
No Iris scanner
No 3DT

No chance.

To be fair, Google Voice is already a thousand times more useful than Siri, and Assistant should be even better, considering how much attention they're drawing to it. The gap between the current services is even greater than Google Maps vs Apple Maps, which is really saying something.

Also, the camera has already been rated the best on the market. Sure, it won't have the dual-lens still-fake-but-better bokeh effect or the zoom function, but I'm not sure if there's a clear winner there, though the dual-camera marketing will probably push more buys Apple's way if people are comparing.

A real, serious plus for the Google phone will be the integrated (and free) cloud storage. If it's totally seamless, that'll be a huge plus for the Google phone, and basically mean a phone that never needs to be synced, even if you do a lot of photo/video shooting with it.

PS. A Headphone Jack! No Proprietary Lightning! No lightning means less dongles in my life, and to be honest, my next phone purchase will 100% have a headphone/aux jack. I'm never going to use a dongle to make use of my headphones with my phone.

Perhaps because they've not reviewed it yet!

Uhm, uh?!?

The whole point is that they reviewed the Pixel camera and gave it the highest score of any phone they have ever tested. Just like they awarded the highest score to the iPhone 6 a few years ago....

https://www.dxomark.com/Mobiles/Pixel-smartphone-camera-review-At-the-top

But the brand new iPhone 7's camera is ranked seventh, according to DXOMARK, behind HTC, Sony, Motorola and last year's Samsung models.

Cheers, I guess.

So your advocating for a proprietary connector rather than a long industry standard. I don't get it.

Guess every Manufacturer out there should dump the jack for their own proprietary connector. That way everyone is locked in to each platform. Sounds like the phone companies with their locked phones doesn't it?

I do not understand this logic.

No I'm advocating for a successor to the analog jack and that successor should be an industry standard. You clearly chose to ignore the part where I said, Have been for longer than Apple even decided to do it. Despite the fact that you managed to quote it.

If Apple wants to have their own format, let them, no biggie we've already seen headphones that support more than one format over the past couple of years so either that trend would continue or Apples format would fall flat on its arse and they adopt the new industry standard.

Kind of hard to figure out what your point is, since the secondary camera on the Plus is a 2X telephoto.

Regular shot quality, which is what is being tested here, should be the same for the iPhone 7 and the 7 Plus.

In theory it should be, but we don't actually know yet and one should never assume anything unknown as a truth.

You mentioned the dual camera iPhone 7; that has not been reviewed yet. The single camera iPhone 7 scores 86 which places it 4th equal - phones with in each score are listed alphabetically.
