Which is why Apple is selling less iPhones. They need to do something different.

I dunno... Right now Apple is selling 800K+ iPhone 7 units/day for this quarter and rollout.

On Note 7 rollout, Samsung sold 2.5M units in two weeks, before the recall.

Do the math...

1.5mm thicker, but the battery is also 2770 mAh compared to 1960 mAh for the iP7. It's going to smash the iP7 for battery life - possibly the iPhone's weakest point.

Learning point here. Let's hope that Apple go slightly thicker for the iP8, getting rid of the camera turret, and giving us a decent battery instead.

Already is a decent battery, and well-matched to the best performing phone cpu/gpu in the industry. And it doesn't burst into flames.

Until Google designs their own SoC's and builds their own phones, they can't compete.
Agree on the SOC point, but this is a Google made phone. They contracted HTC to build them only, they are not based on any HTC phone. They are completely designed by Google. Apple doesn't build their phones, foxconn does that.

Agreed, except I say go thicker and use a convex back to create z-axis room for an even better camera module. I want the best possible image sensor and lens assembly for a smartphone.

Convex device backs are also nicer for holding while enabling a humongous battery size. We should have iPhones by now that last several days between charges, so after two years of use the battery still holds a full day's charge.

*If* I was going to go Android as my primary device , no question, I'd go with one of these phones (probably the larger).

Why so bitter?

Why so concerned :D

Side note: clearly you tend to take a bit of - let's call it - a proactive promoting position on things-not-Apple, that's cool, I do the same with other brands, however, I'm 99.9% aligned with your perspective in the PRSI area (which I don't mind saying has surprised me a bit) :)

Honestly, I'd rather us have matching ideals about the future of our country vs. any agreement on silly electronic devices.

Actually Apple makes iPhones in their labs, foxconn then produces them on scale.

Every time I see a thread full of comments about the headphone jack I realize that for the last year and a half I have hated plucking anything into the headphone jack except in my car that does not have Bluetooth.

I have purchased wireless headphones and earphones because I hate that cord hanging down to my pocket that keeps tearing the headphones out of my ears. Am I the only one on the planet that have no issue whatsoever with the headphone jack being removed? Or is it just a cheap shot way for those people who just love to complain about anything and in those that like to feel cool part of a group and complain but the complainers to be a part?

I would feel embarrassed pulling out a Google phone out of my pocket in public. I dunno, pulling out an iPhone just feels cool. Hard to explain this psychological phenomenon.

With a Google product, you feel yourself like a second-class citizen that lives in a third-world country. Whereas Apple products feel luxurious, it's like owning a Porsche, or like living in Switzerland or Monaco.

Yes, a Porsche that you can buy at Walmart, Boost Mobile, and Target

A processor that destroys everything on the market, 2 cameras that are fully integrated and create the most gorgeous pictures I've ever taken with a cell phone, water resistance that actually works, 3d touch (which I use constantly). I'd say they're doing quite a few things different.

Clearly you're missing the point where it can only be classed different if it looks different
Or if it has a monstrously over specced OLED display. Which, let's get one thing straight, I'm not against if everything else is designed to cope with it, chipset, battery, so on.

Before we have the big power saving argument. Let's not forget part of the reason Apple has stayed with the screens it has, is for power saving. Yes OLED can be very power efficient, but it's often overlooked that when displaying predominantly white, or light coloured screens, they can still consume up to three times as much power as LCD, something the makers are obviously working on feverishly. With so much of what we see on our mobile screens being light in nature, you have to weigh the pros and cons of everything.

Give this the 'Post of the Year' award. Please. It made me laugh so hard (and even being myself an iPhone user).

I've got a Moto E and an iPhone both 128GB

• Moto E cost £75
• iPhone cost £699 2 years ago

I have zero issue being seen with the Moto E and I promise you the iPhone in not nearly 10 times better.
Still will never have any phone other than iPhone as my main phone.
It is an eye opener though to how overpriced iPhones are.

Maybe folks who see me "pulling out an iPhone" think I'm silly spending so much on a phone!!
Cheers

Agreed. The Pixel is an EXACT replica of the iPhone. (And there's no home button!)

That's the one thing that's a bit odd in terms of design, I mean, sure it follows the iP6/7 design pretty closely, but regardless, it's a decent looking device. However with the iPhone, they wanted symmetry on the top and bottom bezel, with the [minimum] size being dictated by the home button. Seems like completely wasted space on the lower bezel, and/or and unnecessary large area at the top[?]

Just seems like a missed opportunity for a really slick, "mostly display" design.
