Worth pointing out maybe that APPs are on sale for $180 at Amazon and other stores so often that it’s probably the pricepoint they should actually be considered to be at

Google this week launched its latest earbuds, the $200 Pixel Buds Pro, which are designed to compete with the AirPods Pro. In our latest YouTube video, we tested out the Pixel Buds Pro to check them out and to test whether they're on par with the $250 AirPods Pro.
Of course you can buy Airpod Pro on Amazon for $179.95. So no temptation at all.

The only buds I would replace my pros are B&O, Sennheiser or Beyerdynamic.

I am satisfied that Apple's shell still has no white spikes

Fast Switching is the biggest appeal to me. Using the Powerbeats Pro for my earbuds, and then going to the Sony WH-1000XM4 for my over-ear headphones is sooooooo annoying.

I have wireless Sennheiser h4.50, Apple Air Max, recently added Audio Technica M20x BT, and some cheap Chinese crap for 10 dollars (bought for testing). These Google phones look exactly like those 10 dollar headphones and probably sound same.
I doubt it.
I'm not saying you have to like the Pixel Buds, but to dismiss them like that without even a listen is a bit unfair.

Open minds…

I think my point was that we’re NOT in the world of “does it sound good” because they didn’t mention the sound. As for measurements, I’m not suggesting that graphs are by any means the be-all-and-end-all, but they definitely tell you more about the sound than not having them does. And what’s with the “I’m old so I know more than you” card? I’m not just a professional musician, but old enough to have bought and owned a pair of brand-new 414SLs when they were first introduced. That doesn’t make me any more right or wrong though. :)
Wow, I didn't intend to come off that way at all. I was just trying to emphasize that I spent a long, long time comparing and debating over sound quality and in the end, just decided to enjoy what I enjoy and let others do the same.

Totally disagree. I own a pair of Pixel Buds and the Pixel Buds A (Free) with my Pixel 6 purchase. Both the Pixel Buds and Pixel Buds A, sound fantastic with the Buds A having a slightly deeper bass if that's your thing. The Pixel Buds have integrated features when paired with a Pixel phone. You can tap to pause, adjust the volume, skip, bring up Google Assistant, talk on the phone. Pull a Bud and the music stops, insert and it starts up again. Open the Pixel Buds case and it immediately tries to pair with a Pixel phone. As far as looks go, that's purely suggestive as they look like Mentos candies in your ear. Some may like that while others might not. The same can be said about the Airpods. Some might not like a stem hanging down from their ears while others might not care.

The Buds are feature rich and sound great. Nice highs, mids and bass while blocking out external noise. These have nice integration with Google phones just the Airpods do with an iPhone. My contention is that this is a clickbait article because pretty much anyone who owns an iPhone will buy Airpods and anyone with a Google phone will buy Pixel Buds, because of product integration. I expect the Buds Pro to be a step up from the Pixel Buds and the A series.

Seems like a good alternative. But have to wait and see what AirPods Pro 2 have got to offer.
If you own an iPhone just buy the Pro 2's. Pixel Buds are not going to do anything special that the Pro 2's will do. Each product is designed around their phones.

Yes, they completely misread your intention.

After more than 5 decades on this earth I too have settled into a far more comfortable laissez faire attitude.

I was done with absolutes and all the "my way or the high way" thinking in my early 30s. I was so wise… insert eye roll here! 🤣

If you're invested in the Apple eco system this product is not going to sway you. However, I did enjoy the comparison and more competition in this space will only help to keep Apple honest and innovating.
People always say that, but they usually are the only ones actually innovating. They consistently compete against themselves and many times have a vision that is limited by the technology available at the time. Like the iPad was on development before the iPhone but could not be build to fulfill the vision Apple had for it. Instead they used the tech they could for iPhone and the rest is history

I recently bought link buds S because... ...stellar mike performance...

Which buds S? Sony? Motorola? How did you find out the mics are good? Is there objective data out there? How are the mics working for you? I'm very curious!

Wow I just found a real earbud review with OBJECTIVE testing!

THIS is HOW IT IS DONE.

I have never seen a review of Apple earbuds like this... hmm maybe soundguys webside has one... off to look

ETA: Wow the Sony mics still drop off at 6000 Hz. That's still pretty awful in my opinion, though probably 3000Hz better than whatever junk Apple iw overcharging for.
