Kind of like Apple rarely having ideas of it's own and just buying out other tech... down to the smallest things like Cover Flow.
All tech companies to this. Development can be sped up tremendously if there is already a readymade solution that can be built on top of. Apple excels in building these acquisitions into their software and adding deeper integrations and a better interface. If Apple used PortalPlayer or Fingerwork's technologies as is the iPod and iPhone would never have been as successful as they turned out to be.

Like no other company in the history of mankind have bought out a tech company other than AAPL? Facebook gobbling up WhatsApp and instagram doesn’t count. Google buying up Waze doesn’t count? Amazon doesn’t count for buying up Ring. For shame on you Apple, for shame /s
Great! Now you see how ridiculous it is to cheerlead for companies... including Apple.

Reminds me of this Apple ad from 2004 when Lion came out.. :)

You’re right. But it’s not like Apple made these features reliable. Airdrop and Handover are hit or miss, AirPlay is slow and unreliable. And just this morning it took me 10 min to get my AirPods Pro and iPad Pro to connect (as my iPhone was also nearby).

I love these features but because they’re unreliable they’re not my first choice.
Handover hardly ever works. Screen sharing works 100% of the time, but airplay never works on my new Apple TV. My MacBook refuses to connect to my AirPods, but all other devices work fine. Apple definitely isn’t perfect.

How long did it take Apple to bring widgets or Notification Center to iPhone, something that Android had since the beginning.

Single sign on helped them track their users better. This will only strengthen their ability to track their users‘ every action and whereabouts. Scary stuff, especially in this day and age where gov’t overreach seems to be a daily occurrence around the world.

You mean they're only starting this now??!?! Apple has the most criticism of "Oh, they're late to market on everything and make their stuff look innovative". We've had AirDrop/AirPlay/Handover/Share Password/Device Initialization for what feels like a decade now! Oh, but I'm sure Google will get the kudos for it. It sure is quiet and lonely at the top.

EDIT: As I keep editing and adding more "AirDrop" style features, the more I realize how Google were asleep on features but had such the attraction for camera lenses.
Sure, Android are slow on this one. But I bet Android users are constantly laughing at the walled garden that prevents even the simplest features, such as simply connecting your iPhone to your Mac, and being able to copy files back and forth like it's just another drive. I'm an iPhone and Mac user, but I would drop my iPhone for Android in a second if Android wasn't so clunky in so many other ways. The idea that Android is slow on feature uptake is laughable, that certainly isn't their downfall.

Apple at times comes up with ideas, implements them, and then sits on them while others who are inspired emulate and surpass Apple. There is no getting around this.

Google has an advantage on two fronts - they didn't lock down music like Apple did and can be far more expansive in their offerings that might appear similar to Apple and the second, they have already an ecosystem with the home kit type of items and can expand its reach into other automation. Companies such as Samsung certainly would love to get into Apple's market share of phones (as example).

I like Apple because I can't stand Windows. I would be as happy with just Linux if the apps were there. So, I stay with fellow Apple fans, enjoy what is great about Apple and admit what is not.

what's your first choice then??

I guess it pays to stay on an android phone for now.

You can even run android APPS in Windows 11.

APPLE lied and said you can run IOS APPS on MAC. but then took the functionality back. NO side loading APPS.

Integration across Mac/iOS devices is why I'll probably never abandon iPhone/MacOS. It's really hard to believe Android hasn't gone down this road sooner. I have an Android for work, and the lack of integration with Windows (also for work) makes the experience pretty rough sometimes... with iCloud, Files, Messages on both platforms, I have access to EVERYTHING no matter what device I'm on.

Please, AirPlay and AirDrop are the most buggy and least reliable features I’ve ever seen.
Sadly, he's right. Airplay has improved quite a bit, but AirDrop just needs to die. All of my remote audio is Alexa and Spotify now, I couldn't deal with the constant Airplay drops.

ah so google has more free time for this now that their citizen surveillance system is up and tracking our stuff in the cloud, everything we email and view, read, visit, and buy across the internet, logs everywhere we drive, updates our social credit score, classifies us right or left, vaxed or not, etc. so glad they can soon lock this down across all our devices now so its even easier for...them.

Same. I’d love any suggestions to fix. Right now I get maybe 50-60% success rate on AirPlay and maybe 20-30% success rate on AirDrop. iPhone 13 Pro and 14” MBP, but I’ve been having problems on older devices since the features were released.

I even tried a fresh install of MacOS and iOS awhile back, but… nothing.

lol... If their handling, or lack thereof, of the Pixel 6 December update is any indication... this imagined integration is just a pipe dream!

Are you aware that Google, by far, has bought out the most companies and integrated them into their products?

- 246 acquisitions by Google in the last 20 years.
- 115 acquisitions by Apple in the last 20 years.

Outside of Search, pretty much every product Google has was purchased. Including all big ones like Gmail, Android, Ads, Maps and YouTube.
